Anonymous wrote:Possibly my favorite commercial from that era was the one where there were a bunch of women and these panties flew through the air and wiggled on their bottoms to show they had no panty lines. It is to this day one of the more hilariously absurd things I've ever seen. I think it was for Underalls? Which are maybe pantyhose? I don't even know.

What's the big deal about panty lines anyway? So someone knows you're wearing underwear. So what?

Everyone in 4th Grade talking about the extended Pepsi commercial featuring the debut of the “Like a Prayer” video the next morning

Being convinced I was just one jar of Noxema away from great beauty

Ah, yes. Like a Prayer. Madonna's song about giving a BJ.

Longer with Big Red--gum

That big red freshness

Lasts right through it!

Your fresh breath goes on and on--

While you chew it.

Say goodbye a little longer.

Make it last a little longer.

Give your breath long-lasting freshness

With Big Red--!

Juicy taste!

Going strong!

The taste of Juicy Fruit is gonna move you all day long.

Juicy Fruit

It’s gonna move ya.

Juice is soft (?)

It gets right through ya!

Juicy Fruit

The taste the taste the taste is gonna move ya.

Lots of gum commercials in that era.

I grew up in Bucks County, PA where we got local stations from both NYC and Philly, and the local commercials tend to stand out in my memory more than the rest.

Crazy Eddie's, Puppy City, Krass Brothers (store of the stars!), Brigantine Castle, Action Park (my parents caved and took us there), Beefsteak Charlie's restaurant (which we also begged to go to and got our way)

And not local, but I remember this commercial vividly. Looking at it now, all I can wonder is how many black eyes and knocked out teeth were left in this thing's wake:

“You’ve waited for a jean that fits
And now you've got a jean called Chic
In colors and in checks or stripes
In 27 sizes, each proportioned right
It’s Chic, (chic, chic) the world’s best fit
Chic, chic
The world’s best fit
Short and tall, big and small, one and all for Chic
The world’s best fit”

Lots of fun memories here. I liked the Billy Crystal Pepsi commercial—you look marvelous.

Pudding pops

Bandaids

Oscar Meyer

Way way back when I was a toddler in the 70s there was a Dorito commercial where a guy in a white chefs outfit (think) bit into one and said cheeese.
