Why do people hate Disney?

Or most of Europe, right?

Says someone who’s never been to Europe

the hot IG spots are crowded AF in Europe during the summer

Yeah, but you got to get the 'gram. If it's not on Instagram, did it actually happen?

Right! Because I totally want to wait for 5 hours to shuffle through the Vatican Museums yet again, just to get that Instagram picture.

People just want to pretend like they're above the masses. Disney is awesome. We go once a year and DH and I do agree that it's our kids' (3 and 5) favorite trip of the year. It's just easy, fun, and there's something for all. We've traveled extensively too. DD talked about the fireworks at Disney for well over a year.

My kids love it though, and I love seeing how happy being there makes them so we go. Each of my kids will go around 3 times before high school. What really gets me are the people who love Disney so much they don’t travel anywhere else but think people who take their kids abroad are crazy or “fancy.” What is this? Unfamiliarity? You can have a truly spectacular week-long trip to Europe for far less $ than a week at Disney costs.

Oh yeah, Jiko, Tiffins, and Victoria and Albert’s are so mediocre.

3 restaurants! Yes, Tiffins is as good as it gets at Disney, but you think it’s better than North African food you can get in any major US city or really most French cities/towns? Geez.

Also, "tiffin" refers to Indian food, so the fact that they're serving North African food is just idiotic.

It’s an Indian/African fusion restaurant, you dolt.

Aren't you a charmer. Perhaps they should have chosen a name that more accurately reflects the multiple influences of the cuisine.

Vegas is weird. It's tacky, of course, but the strip and lights are interesting to see at least once. After a day or two there, I'm ready to bolt. I find it kind of depressing. Disney's not my thing, but we took the kids twice when they were young. Kids had a great time. Seeing them enjoy it, made it great for me.

+1 I love Vegas - we had a great time there - but Disney's just not my thing. I don't feel morally opposed to it, it just seems like a LOT of money for what it is.

We live in Florida and in non-pandemic times usually end up going there once or twice a year when someone's in town, or we just feel like taking a day trip. So it's not like I hate it and refuse to set foot. But - ya know. Theme parks aren't my thing usually.

Next time you're in Florida I recommend a trip to Dinosaur World, that said. It's a super old school Florida roadside attraction - they built a little theme park in a sinkhole, basically, with loads of gorgeous plants and big dinosaur models. It's cheap to get in, kids love it, and I think it's lots of fun. https://dinosaurworld.com/florida/

Like in Disney - I woke up early and got tickets before it opened at the Vatican. I recommend it both places

Yeah, I’ve been to the Vatican twice. No interest in going again.

That’s your problem? The name? You’re really stretching, PP.

It's not just museums and churches. I really wanted to see Hallstatt because of the photos on Instagram. It is a very charming, storybook place. But it's crowded AF. Still glad we went though.

I don't either, but many do.

There’s a pandemic. Not many of us are traveling right now.

It's banking on the fact that the unwashed masses won't recognize that tiffin has an actual meaning. And I'm sure they're right. I mean, you all are arguing that Disney is a well-oiled machine. So they know their clientele, right?

I made on trip to DisneyWorld and one to Disneyland with friends as a young adult. It was fine. It was never an option as a kid ($$) and my two boys have expressed zero interest in ever going. I'm not really a hater, it's just not my thing. Cedar Point in Ohio? Now you're talkin'

That said, I know a couple families that love love love their Disney visits. A co-worker admitted that they spent $10k all together for the most recent family trip, which included all the behind the scenes stuff. There is literally nothing his kids enjoy more.
