We know. You are why so many teachers are sitting in meetings today contemplating quitting. |
At our staff meeting principal conveyed two eye opening pieces of information. - the district was shocked to see how many students / parents selected DL for the second semester (it seems many forget that questionnaire was a choice for the remainder of the year). - principal believes we will be doing Q3 in DL considering the metrics LCPS has selected will be reached by/around Thanksgiving and thus the sheer number of virtual students will permeate into Q4 considering it’s absurd to change and revamp the logistics for the last 8 weeks. |
Someone else tried to claim I was lying and that it was 60/40 in favor of hybrid. It was not. The board cowed for the 20% of most privileged and demanding parents in this county and created a horrible concurrent plan nobody wanted, effectively tanking what little possibility for education there was for all kids for the remainder of the year. I am so defeated today knowing that this county does not actually serve students. It serves litigious parents. |
Bye. They suck. Hope they scram. |
They really don’t. They’re some of the best teachers I know and their loss would be a loss for the profession. You don’t actually have to be such a horrible person you know. There is nothing that requires you to be this hateful. |
Their refusal to do their jobs is reason enough. They are a disgrace. |
This didn’t age well. The district whose numbers have been released and I was correct and you were incorrect. District-wide it’s 59% DL/41% hybrid. |
We already knew this was the case when they mandated DL-for-all. I guess it takes a while for everybody to finally come to this conclusion, though. |
Look at high school |
You said “all schools.” But still, HS is 62/38 DL/HL, so still nowhere close to the 70/80% you incorrectly claimed you “knew” because you could “see.” |
Some of these schools have only 15-20% kids pick hybrid. At every level more picked DL than hybrid. Yet all kids now get a worse version of DL so some can go to the building and more people can get sick. Very cool. |
You don’t know it’s worse, and you don’t know that more people will get sick than otherwise would have just living their lives. You got DL for all for a semester and will likely get to keep it another quarter still. So those who choose hybrid might get one quarter of their choice. So you got your way 3/4 of the year. I think you can suck it up. |
Did they pick DL...or did the survey default them to DL? Either way, hybrid kids deserve the chance to go back if one is afforded. |
No the survey default was hybrid |
None of this is “my way.” This is terrible for everyone involved. Every policy we get handed makes it even harder to just serve and teach kids. Going back in and having to do concurrent when nearly all of my students are still at home does not benefit them. |
