Yes quite difficult. I contributed the recovery of the 98 year old, which I think is one of the few posts that were actually about good news. I post frequently on the other thread and that was the only bit of news I have come across that I thought qualified for this one.

Yes, that is wonderful, because the people seem to dismiss the high death rate among the elderly as no big deal. We don't want them all to give up if they get sick.

Most people who have coronavirus probably think they have cold and cough. It is mild in symptom for them. Thank G_d that it is not like Marsbug or Ebola.

Story about a guy who got the virus on the cruise ship
Says if he had his symptoms without know what they were he’d likely have gone to work. Says it’s not as bad as the flu. He’s in quarantine but doing really well.

Thank you.

Why is this good news? It means that people with mild symptoms will go about business as usual and spread it to others instead of self-quarantine. I’m glad that he is doing well but this is exactly what we should be terrified about.

NP. This is what I just don't get about the hysteria--a man with it said it was like a cold. Why should I be terrified of a cold by a different name?

Because it’s a new, relatively unstudied virus that may mutate into something with a much higher mortality rate. This happened with the Spanish flu.

Dramatic fall in China pollution levels ‘partly related’ to coronavirus. Nasa satellite images show decline as industrial activity slows in effort to limit coronavirus

On the plus side: pollution levels are going down.

No not the way you put it.
It is not about coming up with legit good news. It is about noticing a little positive or hopeful things in the sea of gloom. No matter what you say there a little good news here and there and this thread is NOT about coming uo with them but kind of bringing them out to light. Most of us can handle news as they come, some raw an depressing but wee can keep balanced, leveled opinion, keep things in perspective and apply critical thinking. At the same time there are those who are just anxious without epidemic and they but frankly anyone can use a little counterbalance to just bad news.

Lastly lets focus on your last point.. is having a hard time coming up with legit good news. is having a hard time coming up with legit good news...

What people post here is not only positive (with exception of posts like yours, that clearly are intended to trash any hope and kick the puppy) but very much legit if you bothered to read the thread judging by your baseless conclusions.

There might not be much good news to report because bad news sells better, hence 400 plus of the mega gloom thread,
So they are harder to come by but they are there,

If you think for one that it is not worth to celebrate or at least note the 42.5 K recovered people, real people...
Or you don’t think that the dissapearence of pollution over china even if only for the time of outbreak is neither good or legit then you need to answer my question- how much do you care about people, environment, and do you want this to end well? People need hope in any tough time be it war, or epidemic so if you think that you should come and trash this thread you might end up being judged just as you try to judge.

How this can not be a good news? Even if for a little.

Last week I flew out to Sacramento. Friday I flew back.
No big deal. Business as usual. Planes were packed.

Long term folks will be more likely to frequently wash their hands. This will limit the spread of all diseases.

When will the COVID19 vaccine be ready for the masses?

I'm in NYC. Walking dog in Central Park and you'd have no idea anything is going on. Park jammed with tourists and people walking their dogs, runners, bikers, walkers.

China has successfully controlled the outbreak, and the decline in the number of new cases is real, according to the WHO mission.

Page 17 of https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/coronaviruse/who-china-joint-mission-on-covid-19-final-report.pdf :

China’s bold approach to contain the rapid spread of this new respiratory pathogen has changed the course of a rapidly escalating and deadly epidemic. A particularly
compelling statistic is that on the first day of the advance team’s work there were 2478 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in China. Two weeks later, on the
final day of this Mission, China reported 409 newly confirmed cases. This decline in COVID-19 cases across China is real.

Several sources of data support this conclusion, including the steep decline in fever clinic visits, the opening up of treatment beds as cured patients are discharged, and the challenges to recruiting new patients for clinical trials. Based on a comparison of crude attack rates across provinces, the Joint Mission estimates that this truly all-of-Government and all-of-society approach that has been taken in China has averted or at least delayed hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 cases in the country.

By extension, the reduction that has been achieved in the force of COVID-19 infection in China has also played a significant role in protecting the global community and creating a stronger first line of defense against international spread. Containing this outbreak, however, has come at great cost and sacrifice by China and its people, in both human and material terms.
