not latina above, but no, i haven't sped or broke other laws. speeding is not comparable to coming here (or anywhere else) illegally anyway. and there is nothing wrong about being lucky. some people are beautiful, some are tall and skinny, some are highly intelligent or have parents who live to old age.... everyone is lucky in some way and unlucky in others. some were lucky to immigrate to the US, others aren't. |
| There's a difference between being lucky to get somewhere versus pulling the ladder up behind yourself once you've gotten there. |
Our moral obligations are to those already here and those who want to immigrate legally first and foremost. If you want to be angry at some one over the situation, be angry at their parents that created this mess for their children. They are awful fucking people for doing this to their own families. It's disgusting to try to shift the responsibility of the actions of others onto citizens who had no part in this. |
I don't understand why you said this breaks up families. If parents and children are both illegal, then they both get to leave. And if we're truly talking about children or young adults, then "worked and paid taxes all their life" argument doesn't really apply. |
no there is no diffference. I don't want to dilute my citizenship. |
...and it's also disgusting for the PP above you to call people who disagree about DACA adults "awful fucking" people. You're right....the PP has more venom for American citizens than the illegal parents who blatantly disregarded American laws. |
That sounds fair. |
I think limiting legal immigration is on the table. And from my small sample size of international family - it is happening already. Gone are the days where you graduate in your country with a computer engineering degree and are on the next plane to America on a H1B. Visas are being limited and companies are being very cautious in hiring bc they don't want people getting here and then realizing it was a waste of company money bc the company can't get the person the visa they'd need to work. |
| Yeah I don't get the bleeding heart - breaking up families - argument. Reality is if you're a DACA adult, your parents came illegally. If somehow you need to leave, your illegal parents will likely also be caught up in the same raid. Not that that's happening -- this 800k isn't going anywhere - though the same can't be promised for the broader 3.5mil. |
And his father who wanted his son to live with him in his country of birth. Imagine that... a father thinking he had the right to raise his biological child. |
Not to the people who have been waiting to enter the country legally it doesn't. |
Yeah, amnesty a few million drains on the middle class who are illiterate in their own language to push back the citizenship & green cards of contributors.
|
Exactly. The crying waah videos showing daca or illegal families being broken up are very stupid. They are welcome to go with their parent or relative anytime they choose. I was born in the US (i'm hispanic) but lived in my parents home country for a few years when I was 10. I loved it there and I have fond memories. As an adult I go back every year. I feel life is much much less stressed and you enjoy life more there. |
Less than one percent u.s. citizens join the military so it sounds like everything's pretty much on par |
Not really. People trying to become citizens and are asking for forgiveness for past crimes should be willing to support it more than those that were born here and just don't dislike it enough to leave (aka liberals). |
