We may sympathize with you on the surface, but trust me - we're laughing at you and telling (and re-telling) stories about you to each other, as soon as you walk away. Don't worry though, we'll remember your complaint. Oh yes - we will remember.

Sincerely,
- Management.

Well, I didn't want to go there but since you started, the manager said "please don't let her kill your enthusiasm. This area is full of lesbians feminists and older women who never had kids or had them long ago and don't remember how hard it is."

I thought for a second he was one of the DHs here... How does he know that???

Right. Like I said, sympathize you on the surface, but laughing at you the second you turn away. We make and share mental notes about the "crazy" ones, for consistency's sake for all employees. Also, for entertainment purposes to break up the monotony.

Best,
- Management.

I'm the OP. what's your suggestion, then? Honestly curious. I was taking a 5 minutes shower. Should I just lock myself up at home? I need to exercise. Unfortunately I can't afford a jogging stroller so my only solution is my $9 gym membership.

I don't understand all this people telling me to leave my child at home. Do you all just leave your babies alone like that???

Since you ask, I think you have 3 choices:

1. Get a babysitter while you work out at the gym.
2. Work out somewhere where people take babies.
3. Accept that if you have a screaming baby at the gym, other people who also need to exercise might be unhappy.

Apparently, this family doesn't even have one.

You may also have another choice: work out while you partner is home with the baby.

Not every family has 2 responsible adults.

If the gym only provides one hour of child care you need to workout for 45min, shower & then pick him up on your way out. OR you could do what the majority of moms like myself do and go to the gym once my kids are in bed and my spouse is home.

Taking a toddler into the locker room & leaving him on the floor while you shower just is not an option, what if he would have slipped in the water and hit his face on the bench? or someone wearing noise canceling headphones and not paying attion could have tripped over him, it's bad parenting and your at fault OP.

I'm the OP. my son has no issues staying at the daycare. He did well didn't cry once. They call you at the pool if they do. He cried at the shower because he wanted to be held. I told him I'd hold him when I was done.

My son won't be traumatized for crying 5 minutes while playing with my phone right in front of me.

A lurker here. OP, the problem is that while you may gotten the much-needed break, you were rude in how you handled it. If you really have a problem with no outside support for your child and need the gym break, then only attend class for 45 or 50 minutes, take your 5 minutes shower, get dressed and pick up your child before the hour is up at the daycare. Otherwise, you should find some other way to exercise. But to leave your child sitting there crying for you to pick him up while you take a shower, letting him cry and disturb those around you is both rude and selfish. You placed your desire for that extra 5 minutes of class above your fellow patrons right to a more peaceful experience. Please reconsider your attitude and position on this before you return to the gym. A locker room is not the appropriate place to leave a one-year old crying even if you are just 5 feet away.

You folks are ridiculous. You really think it is such a big deal for some woman to have to hear a toddler cry for five minutes while she is taking her post-shower workout? It's not a library or a meditation garden! It is a locker room filled with lots of noises. I listen to the annoying hyena laughter and gossip of snobby ex cheerleader types while I take my shower and I manage to survive just fine. I can't believe you're all taking the side of a grown woman who, rightfully annoyed or not, DIRECTED A SHITTY COMMENT AT A ONE YEAR OLD.

She didn't try to calm him. She was being condescending. She puffed and made noises before saying something.

He had my phone in a ziplock bag and played with it while crying.

No I'm not crazy. I'd be crazy if I left him alone at home like the stupid PP suggested. Who in their right mind leaves a toddler alone at home to work out??????

I'm not sure it's possible to be condescending to a 1-year-old.

LOL.

She 'disrespected OP in front of her motherf*cking baby'

Actually, you are the one who is being ridiculous. You're one of those people who looks for excuses to be offended. You leave your child sit there screaming and crying for you to hold him for 5 minutes. This woman said "Calm down kiddo, I bet your mom is almost done," which is an innocuous enough comment, but you have to spin it as condescending and shitty. I agree that you really need to have your meds adjusted because you really have no clue and no sense of proportion. You're too self-centered to admit that you were wrong and rude, but have to make this woman who did nothing wrong the villain when you are the culprit here. One of the extremely rare times that DCUM is pretty much in perfect accord and you can't understand why no one agrees with you.

Give your child up for adoption to someone who will put the baby's needs ahead of their own selfishness.

Hey, you just proved yourself wrong. I'm the OP and I didn't post this comment you quoted.

What was the lady trying to do if I was trying to calm the baby and it didn't work? She thought her sweet face and singy songy voice would shut him up?????
