"Larla" as girl's name

The name has no meaning and we have only found one other Larla in the world. Everyone has their opinion about names but when I look at my daughter I couldn't imagine another name for her.

PP, assuming you are real, it's not a bad name; it's just become the symbolic name for DCUM generic names, and I think either Larlo or Aidan are the boy versions.

Sounds like a southern name, like Barbara Mandrell's sister, Lurlene (who never was that famous, maybe because of her name). I prefer Darla. Or even Arla.

I would love to know where it all started, then … this seems to be the first mention of it on here, no? This thread is a few years old.
I didn't realize the date of this post! Did OP start a trend? Is Larla used by non-DCUMers? Hmmm

Hum....seems like Urban Dictionary discovered Larla before DCUM:

Totally off topic, but Barbara Mandrell's sisters are Louise and Irlene. I used to love watching their show in the early 80's.

As for Larla, fuhgeddaboutit! Unless you want your daughter to be the DCUM poster child.

Probably was reported and removed because you posted her ID? you blacked things out but maybe for privacy reasons. We could see her last name.

I removed it because I wasn't sure that your mom wanted her picture here with people calling her a stripper. But, if she is fine with that, repost.

People can be very nasty on this site with very little provocation. So please edit if you relate any of these posts to your mom. No need to repost the id.

Someone said she looks pretty and young, so you should tell her that.

Oh, ok. Good point. We think it's funny though. Don't worry about it.
But anyway, yeah. My mother is an actual Larla, named by her father who made it up when she was born in 1970. The funniest part to me was the people saying "what kind of mother does that to their kid" because ironically my grandmother has written & published books on parenting LOL. I've asked her repeatedly over the years why on earth they went with this name, she claims it was all my grandfather and she just gave him the freedom to name their kids. He was a little creative with all his kid's names. One of her sisters is named Donielle (not Danielle, DONielle). Still not as weird as "Larla" though. We googled my mom's name today just to see if anybody else has it and this thread was THE FIRST RESULT. Read the whole thing and she laughed all the way through. All your points were spot-on. She couldn't say it and called herself "Wawa" until she was like 7. And the kids in school did indeed call her "Larvae". But it was a fine name as an adult, people mishear it sometimes but usually she gets compliments on how cool/original her name is. (They may or may not be totally lying).
I can definitely say I'm glad I wasn't named after my mom though. However I think having to spell & explain her name for her entire life is why she ended up giving me & my siblings very generic names. I didn't like being named Gabrielle as a kid because there were always 5 more in all my classes. But now than I'm 19, I think it was an ok name and definitely would rather be one of 10 Gaby's in class than be the only one with a name like Larla. lol.
