What about Tuesday?

I actually think it means this wasn’t straightforward.

I think it means they are making their decision based on what neighboring jurisdictions decide. I think Fairfax just announced 2 hour delay. PGCPS has not yet announced.

Again, based on what? If you have no real idea, stop speculating here.

Nope. It's between a 2hr delay and a closure. They never open on time after a snowstorm when there's still snow at bus stops, etc. They need everyone to see where they're going, and not have to wait for schoolbuses in the dark.

What MCPS should do is accept responsibility and acknowledge they mismanaged expectations, the situations, and failed kids AND their parents. An apology will go down better than language like the one from yesterday, where they had to send another message clarifying what their first message meant. MCPS, admit it, own it.

If indeed this is an MoCo failure (or MCDOT) with respect to snow removal, as much or more than MCPS, how is there ever accountability on this front? (Who is even the right person/agency to contact?) MCPS can point to the County, and the County probably sees students & parents as just a fraction of their constituency... and progress can't ever be made.

They should. But they're not gonna.

It’s a tough decision. And MCPS parents are jerks. Not easy to thread the needle

We're not jerks. Or at least we're not jerks 60% of the time. We just expect MCPS to function like a professional school district. Not a teenage kid who hasn't done his homework. That just makes us professional adults.

What the Superintendent should do is request direct access to snow removal services from the county in cases of snow emergency, so that access to school properties, school bus routes and and school bus stops can be placed somewhere in the list of priorities that the County already has. Maybe not at the top, but at least not be entirely ignored like they are right now.

Yes they're open tomorrow with a 2 hr delay. It's going to be embarassing if MCPS is closed tomorrow. Eight days after a storm. Smh.

Shame on you. You Mad Mommies of MoCo are really insane.

If even one child's life was spared because of today's decision, it was worth it.

You lunatic. It's only school. They can make it up.

Odds are for a delayed opening for MCPS. But they're trying to come up with ways to justify it - that's what taking all that time. The about-face!

The message yesterday was so shocking to me: I thought they were really boxing themselves in. What idiots. At some point this week they will need to open, and the conditions will still be the same.
