single sitting 1490 with top rigor, highest ranked school accepted, 3 kids we know with same singlesitting, confirmed on scoir, HS class '22, 23:

dartmouth RD, WL 2 other ivies, rejected other t15, in to 1 other T20
duke RD after ED deferral, in to 2 other T20 types RD
cornell ED

all no hooks

Two years ago, my NMSF, 3.98/4.5, 1560 was rejected from two ivies and WL at UVA and NEU. CS (engineering) major.

Bingo. No one is surprised.

Also, in case you didn't know, the stats are table stakes. What else did your kid bring to the table?
What was his niche/point of excellence?
And it can't be stats....

I bet some people are.

If you were surprised, I suggest you get off of this site… The traffic is much less than it used to be anyway. And go read up on the admissions process and the impact of major.

Join some active Facebook groups too. No one should be surprised by that result. In RD males with an engineering or computer science major are held to the very highest standards. Their applications to top schools must be very well thought out, and heavily focused on showing personal qualities.

PP. I wasn't surprised. Disappointed but not surprised. Responding to a condescending, know it all, absolute post.

+1 how can PP "not be surprised" when they know nothing about the applicant?

The parent of that high stats CS kid would have disclosed national awards/distinction in that post if there were any.
Those kids are a dime a dozen, esp in RD. And no, the PT job doesn’t move the needle.

Which colleges was your child accepted into? CS is the hardest admit, everybody knows they need to bring everything to the table.

The demographic cliff will probably change things. What has been true for the last two years probably won't be true in the future.

Which major?
Anonymous
My son had a 1490 and is at Pomona this year. Private HS, ED, no hooks.

I think it will crush the bottom-feeder schools unless Trump allows a bazillion foreign students to prop them up.

T100 (certainly T50) will be unaffected.

CS is being discussed here as if all colleges admit by major. Many colleges, particularly private ones, make all majors available to all students.

As examples, Wesleyan reported a median SAT score of 1430 on its most recent CDS and Hamilton reported a median of 1500. For this student, either of these colleges may be accessible.

In bracketing the score of this student, this post offers good examples of colleges that students with a 1490 SAT attend. The low acceptance rates for these schools should be noted, however.

I think it will be much easier to get in CS programs moving forward. Seems like the job market for CS majors is declining fast.

Which will make engineering an even more competitive major as it draws the students who otherwise would have chosen CS.

OP was just referring to stats. Not sure why you want a full application submitted.
