NOTE: the settlement agreement is a settlement agreement.

Again, not the compact. All this agreement (not a “settlement”) does is put the DOJ’s five discrimination investigations on hold while UVA cleans up its act. You do want that, right? UVA is actively discriminating in hiring and admissions in violation of Students for Fair Admissions and federal law.

Nonsense, another MAGA fever dream. This crap never ends. Did it hurt when they shoved the straw up your nose and sucked out your brain?

This thread has devolved into two distinct cohorts; those genuinely concerned about a power-play by a mere private citizen who has yet to take office, and one or more fanatical Spanberger supporters.

Notice which side continually resorts to childish insults and foul language?

Personal attacks are the hallmarks of a weak or nonexistent argument.

Or, they are an accurate depiction of what we are facing. In this case it is the latter.

I voted for Spanberger and I’m still appalled at this behavior. Maybe grow up and stop calling everyone you disagree with a troll.

Yes - so maybe you should learn how to have an adult conversation without resorting to them.

Do you remember how Mitch McConnell wouldn’t let Democrats fill an open Supreme Court seat because he said it should be filled by the next president, who was a newly-elected Republican?

This is state level politics we’re talking about here. Spanberger hasn’t even been sworn in yet. Get a clue.

DP. Exactly. So let’s have our state governor do her job of appointing the BOV and get the DOJ out of our affairs.

Our state governor is currently Glenn Youngkin.

Fortunately not for much longer.

Virginia firmly rejected MAGA.

Spanberger was given the mandate to clean up the MAGA mess, including UVA.

The Virginia judiciary seems to think Youngkin was out of line.

Ok, real question without any insults or foul language: if you’re really looking for the best candidate, doesn’t it make sense to pause for just a few months? Who in their right mind would accept a job in December knowing that the makeup of the BOV is changing come January? Any decent candidate would proceed with caution.

Entirely separate matter not relevant here. And what most left wing publications are saying about that case misses that all the Va Supreme Court did here was refuse to stop the temporary restraining order. It’s a procedural matter. Now the case continues on at the trial level.

“Decent” candidates will accept because BOV positions run for four years.

There are five vacant seats for her to fill.

As it stands, the entire BOV is Youngkin appointed and both the Faculty Senate and Student Council have passed resolutions declaring no confidence.

So if the BOV does not represent the wishes of the faculty nor the students nor the voters of Virginia, then who are they for?
