Her career lasted for 2 main reasons, she stayed slim and she was not a mean spirited person

She also didn't ruin her face. She was still recognizable at the end.

If you think that detestable creep was putting her in multiple movies without sleeping with her I have a bridge to sell ya!

I thought she had amazing energy.....she always seemed like someone I'd want to be friends with.

Can we not tear down people when they just died? Do u know how difficult it is for a woman to be in the spotlight? Just because you didn't like her does not mean she couldn't act. Plenty of thin actresses are unemployed

There had to be an underlying illness giving the rapid decline noted by friends and neighbors.

Oh no. Pneumonia vaccine is so important at her age. More so than flu vax.

Get over it. He's happily married and has been for decades. If she wanted to come out against him she had more than enough time but she didn't see a reason to.

You can catch a viral pneumonia as well as developing a secondary chest infection that becomes pneumonia.

I agree, her energy and youthfulness contributed to her enduring appeal. She might not have had the best range in roles (at least not since she was young) but she was appealing and had good comedic timing. Just re-watched Baby Boom. That scene in front of the well gets me every time. As well as her response when Sam Shepard kisses her for the first time. Amazing.

She had spoken about her bulimia, describing a very severe manifestation of the eating disorder.

She indicated this was in her twenties, for about four years, but...I never believed her. I don't think it is something you just permanently get over. There will always be relapses.

I lost a good friend, a former college professor, when she was about Diane's age. She too went through a sudden decline, just very weak and seemed to always have a cold or other smaller issue. She confessed to me that she'd been bulimic for forty years. It never really went away. She was so ashamed and embarrassed to tell me. Her doctor already knew, and apparently had been telling her for years that she was destroying her body.

So that's what I always thought of when I heard of Diane Keaton, and what I wonder about now. Years of cycling into and out of and back into bouts with her ED surely weakened her body and did an untold amount of damage.

Daughter is 29 and son is 25. Plenty of people have parents who died when they were younger than those ages!

While that’s true, it’s also true that it’s young overall to lose their parents. It’s not a competition of who had it worse. It’s totally appropriate for someone to feel bad for her kids in a thread about Diane Keaton’s young adult children.

Sure it's sad but, they are over 18 and had a great life with Diane, I'm sure. One should always think of other people to put things into perspective. My dad died when i was 14.

My mom died when I was 24 and it absolutely gutted me. I dont think we need to play the who had it worse game and no it is not necessary to put things into perspective to compare grief. Losing a parent sucks

That's your opinion but I have my opinion too and I have ever right to feel as I do. I am not saying it isn't sad or they aren't gutted. I'm not even saying it is a competition. I am saying they are much better off than they would have been if they had been under 18! And I have the right to my thoughts so fine if you disagree but I am not changing my mind!!!!

NP. You very much are making it a competition.
