| The United States Census Bureau defines the Southern United States as Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. |
Atlanta and Emory are most definitely southern. |
| Approximately 1/2 the undergraduate students at Emory are from southern states. |
The first census used these categories: 1. Free White males 2. Free White females 3. All other free persons 4. Slaves And has changed many, many times since 1790 But, sure, go ahead and dig in your heels. The Census Bureau is as good a hill to die on as anything else

Delaware?
Lol you just proved PP’s point. |
No. |
If you’re separating out the mid Atlantic it’s not just DC and MD but also NY/NJ/PA, perhaps VA, and irrelevant for these purposes but also DE and WV. So New England and mid Atlantic. |
I'm simply sharing what the Census Bureau states. Not my problem or concern. |
I thought the Census Bureau was legit. We'll just go with your opinion instead.

Couldn't agree more. |
Larla in Maine: Mom, I’m tired of the cold, I only want southern schools! Mom: No problem, U Del would be perfect! |
