Repeating this, only convinces yourself. Either way my DD is applying ED1, and is 2nd in her class. |
Emory has a 40% yield with ED games. You aren't convincing anyone. |
| Should DD even apply with a 1430? |
| It's actually infuriating to see applicants with 1550+ get rejected while test optional candidates get in. |
What did the 1550 kid do other than test well? That's the problem. Prob a boring 1-dimensional kid who sits in his room and rots. |
But he’s smart. Which your TO kid is not. |
There’s a lot of smart people. Nothing special about that. |

How accurate are these numbers? Because it's higher than Brown.
https://admission.brown.edu/explore/brown-admission-numbers 1480-1560 admitted. |
Is there a typo in the bolded? I don't understand what this was supposed to mean. There is no reason to think this score range for admitted students is inaccurate. Note that the score range for enrolled students will likely be similar for Brown, maybe a hair lower, though we won't see that published until the 25-26 CDS is released in spring/summer 2026. |
Adding, this year was the first year Brown returned to scores required, which explains difference between class of 2029 admitted 25th percentile (1480) and class of 2028 enrolled 25th percentile (1510). |

Smart is fine but can you throw a football or down to swan lake? You need to go take a look at some of these institutions. Whether you like it or not, they have football teams and symphonies. And some of the departments that would be for so-called smart kids are under attack. Why are you so obsessed with smart? |
anyone can learn how to take a test. |
They probably took the SAT 5 times to get the 1550. |

Oh Emory, Vanderbilt, WashU!
You try too hard and UVA too But, alas, it doesn’t impress me much. |
