Vacant Hayfield Football Coach

Looks like Overton may be building something strong after all. Wherever he goes, he builds something elite.

Overton wins wherever he goes. Then leaves total devastation upon departure.

Hilarious! He's a third rate, nasty, con-man.

I don’t think you will be able to stop his momentum with the disparaging statements.

It doesn't mean that it shouldn't be pointed out. He is a third rate, nasty, con-man.

He stops his own momentum by constantly cheating and not being bright enough to not get caught.

There's basically no need for him to cheat now. The system is set up for someone like him, and will keep evolving to be more aligned to his success.

Good, bad or indifferent that's the reality of high level HS sports.

To certain people that are jealous they can’t beat him, they have always felt that him winning is him cheating. That’s how they will always feel.

He literally was cheating
And cheating at a scale never seen before. The report will say so in due time. Maybe he’s an outside the box thinker and what he was doing will be the new way forward, but to say he didn’t break rules when it was happening is naive.

I haven’t seen the proof that he cheated. Some people say he did and some say he didn’t. He wasn’t disciplined so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

It’s true he could be an out of box thinker. Some people look at a kid who reclassifies once or twice as a cheater, but it’s within the rules at some schools and in some situations.

20+ kids transferred into Hayfield about 2/3 of which were at Freedom HS the year before.
The VHSL rules state you can not transfer for athletic purposes. ISN'T THAT PROOF ENOUGH?
Or I guess you could argue that they all happened to like Fairfax county Alexandria better than Woodbridge and they discovered this at the same time Overton became the Head Coach at Hayfield.

Agree, if one or two kids transferred into Hayfield it’s hard to pin them down on the reason. If 20+kids transfer you’d have to be dumb to not be able to see why.
Some would argue the rule is dumb, which has some merit, but you out can’t have a situation where some schools follow the rules and others ignore them. FCPS and the VHSL simply needed to decide if they believed in theirs rules or not. It looks like they’ve doubled down on enforcing the rules and Fairfax paid for it.

No it’s not enough proof. It’s speculation. The fact that Overton has such elite teams would make me think it, but the parents of the transfers said there were other reasons they factored in when deciding to transfer to Hayfield.

One could say the same thing about Westfields and Madison. I know quite a few kids just at those two schools who I have strong suspicions that they only go there because they want to play sports there. In fact I know it’s factual in some cases.

Really? You know of 20+ kids who transferred into Westfield or Madison in a single year to play a single sport?

The VHSL said it was more like 32 kids transferring in.
