Team 5 is not dismantled

There is still a team 5. Has anyone received information on the practices?

Has anyone on any of the teams received an email about practice days/times?

How about parents stop ruining for players who are even thankful to have an opportunity to play at the National Draw? You don’t get to pick and choose what team you play for because one is better than the other. It doesn’t work like that. Stop being an opportunist and get over yourself. Thanks for ruining for other players who actually are thankful to represent DC regardless of what team. You guys truly suck.

There are more of us who would like to turn down our spots without penalty so more of these "thankful" players could get into the tournament. You can't just add teams after the tryouts to the point of nearly every player making a team

Do us all a favor and just don’t have your daughter tryout next year, thanks!

I'm hoping for an early exit for Hilton Arms tomorrow, Coach McCormick clearly is overwhelmed right now.

Holton, effing summer tournament autocorrect.

If the tryouts can't guarantee the better players are on Team 1 and the weaker players are on Team 5, all integrity is lost. This is what people are complaining about. Very few of the selections and team assignments make any sense. Might as well throw darts at a board.

The rules are set by USA Lacrosse, not any of the regional teams, including how many teams a region can have which is based on how many USA Lacross-registered players are in a region or some formula.

The penalties, again set by US Lacrosse, are also outlined: including becoming ineligible for HS all American honors. So take it up with US Lacrosse, not DC Metro.

And, there were girls who were eventually recruited to play in college on all 3 teams last year, fyi.

There is an email on the USA Lacrosse website if you want to complain (though pro-tip,”my daughter should have made a higher team” is not a great look).

Which is why we will grin and bear it. But pro tip for future girls, skip this one or at least be warned.

Last year, looking at the teams, I just thought, wow a lot of lacrosse talent in the DMV, enough to have solid, recruitable players on every team. What an honor. And, my kid went and played hard even though she wasn’t on the top team.

It would never occur to me to say, wow, this is obviously rigged bc a talented girl is on a lower team. Instead I said go win your bracket.

It seems that the message you are sending your daughter: if you aren’t picked, this is rigged.

There's really no incentive to play in this tourney if your daughter is a better player. She could easily be placed on team 5, team 1 or no team at all??? Teams 3-5 are pointless unless you're just trying to go down to NC and burn some cash. I totally get why girls put on the weaker teams are bailing.
