Why can’t women choose to get their tubes tied?

Because doctors refuse to perform them on young women.

I hate these reductive arguments. I want access to abortive care if I get septic during a pregnancy so I don’t die and leave my kids without a mom or there is a fetal anomaly AND I want to open the door for more kids. Tubes tied is a permanent solution that I don’t desired. I grew up in a pro life home where I was taught abortions were in cases with sexual loose girls who were selfish and didn’t want to keep their perfect babies. Not the case - way more complex and nuanced than this.

Just stop. Many abortions are for WANTED children. What would solve the problem is for the government to get the heck out of women’s uteruses. Let doctors do their jobs!

I’m on your side. This would reduce the need for as many “elective” procedures that so many argue about. It also brings men into the discussion, as they are a part of creating the zygote.

I am well aware of the need for termination of much wanted pregnancies.

If the government feels the need to be involved, this policy is much less complicated.

I was responding to someone asking why women don’t get their tubes tied. My sister tried to get a tubal ligation after 2 kids. Her doctor refused because she was too young. Many other women face the same issue.

There are still doctors that ask to have your husband’s permission for a tubal ligation

I have a friend who reversed her tubal after her youngest of 3 (who was 5 at the time) died in a tragic accident. She had a fourth child that way. But it is NOT easy to do.

It would have men have to participate in this abortion ban path we are on in a more important way than just voting for forced birth. Store your sperm and then snip snip and your problem of an unintended or unwanted pregnancy is solved.

Here’s Florida’s abortion ban in action.

She didn’t choose to lose half the blood in her body to deliver a non-viable fetus.

What law in the United States compels a man to lose half the blood in his body? Any of the blood in his body? What rational law gives a non-viable fetus a greater right to half the blood in its mother’s body than the woman herself has?

Ugh. It's like they want to spill blood. Like it's some kind of twisted religious ritual.

Today: A 22 year mother of two is being forced to carry a 3rd. And no, FL isn’t offering any support for those bAbiEs. Women will die.

This is the beginning of a miserable summer for Floridians.

Maybe lifetime if they vote for Trump in November.

I can’t even wrap my head around the 6 week ban. That’s 2 weeks after your last period was due. Even when I was actively trying to get pregnant and knew my cycle to the minute, I didn’t get a clear positive until 8 days after my period was due. That would have given me SIX days to procure an abortion - and keep in mind that Florida also has a 24 hour waiting period so actually 5 days.

I guess every sexually active woman in Florida should a) do a pregnancy test every week and b) have abortion pills ready at home.

Getting birth control is easy and cheap. I'm more concerned about currently pregnant women who want a child and women who want to get pregnant and might need care seen as an abortion due to issues during pregnancy. It's an issue for the whole south as many drove to Florida. Hopefully this shit gets solved when we vote in November.

That’s the point.

You are the scary one. This is female slavery.

And don’t think for a second these people who say “just use birth control” won’t come for that next since that is also preventing “healthy” babies from being born. And the mess with IVF. I really hope women come out in force and vote this amendment in.

I believe Clarence Thomas already has this in mind. The misogyny on the US Supreme Court is terrifying.

Before 1973 my aunt had a good friend who fell pregnant by her boyfriend of six years. He was a student at one of the military academies and refused to drop out to marry her. She gave herself a douche of lye to abort. Her father found her in her the bathtub, rushed her to a hospital but she died in the ambulance.
This is what I think of when women are denied abortions. How many women died prior to Roe v Wade by trying to self abort and how many will die now. It breaks my heart.

birth control fails. and why would you want women to be forced to have a baby due to a mistake?
