What’s indefensible is the bashing, misinformation, and unsubstantiated claims made. It’s also weird how people have an axe to grind with a school over an admissions rate and write pages of rants but refuse to go to the source to get their questions answered. |
Big deal. Harvard Law School does this. |
You have said this like 5 times: you ask. You seem to be the only one who doesn’t know what the response will be. When you do get the non-answer everyone is telling you that you will get (and college counselors have been trying to get for many years), perhaps you will stop wading in out of your depth. |
It’s not a 5% acceptance rate: the rate will change significantly upward once deferrals and ED2 conversions are accounted for. So even this “5%” reveal is of questionable transparency. Chicago well knows it will be wrongly interpreted to make it seem more competitive at ED1 than it is. |
Just FYI I don’t think this is all one person. I wrote one saying contact the school for answers…or don’t….Then there is this one and there are others. You said it’s been stated 5 different times. I haven’t bothered to count. My point (no, pithiness is not my strength) is there are several people delivering the same message. You may want to consider heeding it. Admission rates are not the hill I am willing to die on. Maybe average GPA or lower 25%, middle 50 or upper 75% of test scores. That’s what my DC and I chose to focus on and it has worked out. But if this issue is paramount to you, perhaps there are better ways to get answers than this trashy, godforsaken thread. Good night. |
Obviously, no one is making that claim. It was clearly posted on this thread it was for EA and ED1. Maybe the ED2 rate is out now?? |
Yeah, Chicago will disclose it as soon as it’s available. The naïveté here is truly astonishing. |
Well they disclosed information for the first round. The bashing is unbelievable. |
Chicago does not disclose ED1 and ED2 rates or the percent of class admitted ED. Everyone in the college admissions community knows this. Stop trolling. |
They released the first round of early rates. It has already been discussed on this thread. Who’s the one trolling? |
Chicago is a master at obfuscating statistics to make things favorable to them. They only release numbers that make them look good |
They released combined EA and ED numbers. That is not helpful. They will not release ED-only numbers. |
NP. No stake in this game, but I have to wonder...do you work for U of Chicago, or are you just a loyal parent or alum? It seems very odd to throw down on this when it isn't clear. ED 1 could be 35% and EA .01% for all we know. This really doesn't give any hard info. How many ED kids do you know were accepted? How many EA? Does anyone here know any kid accepted EA? I sure don't! |
I agree, it's odd. Who does not support colleges being more transparent? |
Then why are ppl on this thread asking for them? I thought this was the ask by OP. Others have provided stats and then get shot down. Any statistic can be manipulated by any institution. This thread is ridiculous. No one really wants an answer. They just want to bash and put down others. |
