UW Madison horribly underrated

In terms of academics, I’d give Wisconsin the edge because they’d had some superstar professors and alumni, JP Morgan’s economist Stephen Roach and Dean Corbae who’s very famous in the finance world. Older people tend to respect Wisconsin more. However, in terms of job prospects Mich is simply the better school by a long shot. We recruit Umich because massive numbers come from Phillips Exeter, Bronx High school of science, and Harvard Westlake. They’re wealthy and know their stuff about finance and that’s what we want to see. I’ve never recruited a Wisc kid, and probably never will.

So you’re saying that Michigan graduates know their stuff about finance whereas Wisconsin graduates do not. I guess the academics at Wisconsin don’t have the edge in this case. Either Wisconsin has worse faculty because they aren’t teaching their students well enough about finance, or the students aren’t smart enough to grasp the concepts of finance that are being taught. Either way, I don’t see where this proves that Wisconsin is horribly underrated.

Except the tens of thousands of out of state applicants.

I didn’t know that Michigan was good in gymnastics. Lol.

Wisconsin is definitely not a regional school. It’s also not at the very top tier of public schools.

That is because it is underrated. The field is dominated by a bunch of overrated CA schools like USC.

The smartest person I have worked with went to Wisconsin for college. Arguing Wisconsin vs Michigan is like arguing Honda vs Toyota. It really doesn’t matter.

Every school has tens of thousands of out-of-state applicants. For example, the University of Tennessee. Which I think we can both agree isn’t even close to the caliber of Wisconsin.

Actually, for finance it is. Where you attended undergrad makes a huge difference in hiring.

What a weird statement. You recruit Umich undergrads in finance not because they come from Ross but from some prestigious high schools? You specifically look for these high schools on their resumes? And they need to be wealthy to know stuff about finance? What a joke

Yes, because people in finance have no soul.

Show data then for Wisconsin vs Michigan in finance hiring because an anonymous opinion on here is not credible.
