Which would you hate more: Commanders leave DC, or Commanders stadium in your neighborhood?

Thanks for confirming that Federal lands needs to be maximized for their economic benefit. There’s a lot of “wastelands” in the west that could otherwise have productive oil and gas fields benefiting local economies.

Have at it.

You mean national parks? You are comparing that to the bit of littered asphalt in the middle of the city? If congress prefera DC have the land then actually allow a bill to go through when DC tries. Trump's campaign promise included making DC great again. Actually doing something with the RFK site might mean he is not all full of hot air.

Maybe Trump can build a nice golf course resort with clubhouse on the RFK site. Perhaps with a nice leisure lake as well.

A nice little swampy hangout for the swamp dictator.

As long as giving land away for free to billionaires is acceptable, I think this is an excellent alternative proposal for the site. A gated Trump-branded golf community with McMansions sounds like it would be perfect for that location.

He’s going to have to get permission from his boss(es).

You missed that Elon totally lied about the stadium deal in the CR.

What did he lie about?

Trump administration should get nice homes built where RFK stadium is. That should give wealthy an incentive to buy homes in DC to bring more businesses here, which would benefit all residents.

This is disingenuous. If DC uses DDOT appropriations for transportation improvements around the stadium, a portion of that is effectively Federal funds because money is fungible. Similarly, providing the land for no cost is a massive subsidy that is also an allocation of Federal resources.

You called it s “swap”, which implies that the federal government would get something of equal value in return. It is not a “swap” but a free land transfer and it is a quintessential “back room deal”.

How so? It is not in the interests of either party to continue the status quo.

The amended bill passed seconds ago. So yhe Commanders are staying in Maryland. Question is whether or not the city will expend the time and resources to try for a fifth time to take over the RFK site. I doubt it. And I don’t think the city councilors were terribly keen on the Commanders returning to DC in the first place.

I predict a new stadium with entertainment village will be built on the current site in Landover, maybe a quarter mile closer to the Metro where the residential sprawl currently is.

The CR only lasts for three months. That gives Josh Harris three months to make a sizeable donation to Trumps library or else he can kiss his RFK stadium dream goodbye.

There are already homes and other development in the plan for the RFK site in addition to the stadium.

The RFK site didn't have to be a football stadium. Alternative options are available for the site and have been proposed. But it will stay a useless polluted waste of space for the time being and a drain on tax dollars to mow the lawns and weedwhack occasionally.

Nope. They didn't go through the name change and new ownership to stay in Landover.

They aren't at all talking about leaving - it just seems like no one actually want to have a stadium near them...so if the team requires a new stadium, where the heck does it go? Richmond?

Please leave us out of this discussion, thanks. We have the Flying Squirrels when we need to yell at people we don’t know.

That optimism is nice. But the Washington Post story that was just posted online pretty much says the RFK stadium dream is over. What's shocking is how much of the writing in the Post is obviously AI generated, like the story on the RFK deal falling apart in real time. Probably cheaper than all the editors that were laid off.

For Landover however, "The Dream is Still Alive" as the famous hit song goes.
