Only T30 in football |
Our freshman/first year is really liking UVA. Seems like a great balance between academics and fun. |
NP. You aren’t going to get real answers here, OP. Parents who send their kids to these schools are heavily invested in believing their kids are totally happy because the alternative is too grim for them to deal with. |
Very unhappy at Duke. The culture just isn’t great but we think it’s worth it to just stick it out for another two years at this point. |
+1 |
Please tell me more. My child is in love with Duke and wants to attend. What specifically, does your child not like about the culture of Duke? |
Yup. You can say I go to a T30. Florida UNC UVA are also relatively easy for in-state These are all good options if you can't break into T25. (UVA is #25 this year), but not necessarily better than some schools outside of 30. So T25 is really the first cut |
What is the obsession with top thirty? Who cares if the particular school doesn’t have a strong program in what you want to major in, or isn’t a good fit for other reasons. Weird post above re: WF, and that then one can say the attend a “top 30”. |
Tell me more about Brandeis and Haverford, planning to look at both, what do your kids like/not like |
Our freshman is very happy with Tufts. Really enjoys the community. Smart, friendly, interesting student community. Professors and classes have been interesting. Extracurricular opportunities have been great and they’ve enjoyed exploring Boston (go student discount!). |
DC at Haverford plays a sport which has influenced her time there - she loves it, great classes and profs, lots of smart and friendly kids although all of her good friends are involved in athletics - she generally finds it a low key and supportive environment. She has enjoyed access to Philadelphia although finds plenty to do on campus, and she has not yet taken advantage of the consortium but says many students do. DC at Brandeis is a more intense kid and quickly found a good group of friends who seem similar in personality ![]() I’d say both schools seem to attract smart, nice, kind and welcoming student bodies. Haverford is much smaller and that makes a difference in the vibe. |
My son is very happy at U Chicago.
I was very worried that it is very intense school with not much fun. It is definitely hard school academically but so much to do and explore at school and in Chicago. |
I would have been worried as well considering it's where fun goes to die. |
The slogan made by U Chicago students long time ago and it does not apply to the current climate of the university |
Happiness is about fit, dumbasses. |
