Roe v Wade struck down

It's horrific that a 6-3 majority thinks so little of precedent, of lying under oath, or of women's privacy rights. I had an abortion at age 22--so grateful I lived in a country (not the US) where abortion was safe and legal.
There will be A LOT of litigation surrounding this, since your right to an abortion will vary depending on where you live--denying you equal protection of the laws.

At least (?) this decision was 5-4.

The late term abortions are for genetic issues or like the situation of the poor woman in Malta who had miscarriage while on her babymoon and the fetus did not expel. Malta bans abortion in ALL circumstances, so she had to wait until septic and almost dead before they would do anything. Somehow she was able to get airlifted to Spain before that happened.

Or like the 11 year old in Brazil, raped and pregnant at age 10, and some right wing judge told her to hang on a little longer. She did not want to give birth and was able to get an abortion.

This will make some states ban LEGAL abortion, which just means it goes underground and women die from back alley abortions.

This is 100% about power and control over women.

This is a sad, sad day, one I never thought I'd see

Really? Was killing babies a popular discussion point in your crowd?

Babies being killed? Where?

Uvalde. Sandy Hook. In homes across the nation loaded with guns.

But republicans don’t care about them or anyone after they’re born.

No it won’t. People are apathetic about anything that won’t affect them personally.

Oh hell no, even Republican women are fired up. All republican women were not anti abortion. But I don't know what to do personally. Write congress? March? I never see any of those effect change.

Volunteer to register new voters. Planned Parenthood has a program where you can sign up patients in waiting room.
Talk to anyone woman you know about importance of VOTING for Dems. No more “I am a small business owner” no more “but inflation!“!
Convince them they need to be a single issue voter because I promise you they are not stopping at abortion. Thomases dissent already has birth control on the chopping block.

That's interesting that you used the word "trash." That's exactly where over 60 million growing babies were placed.

No. They weren’t babies you idiot.

I just had a miscarriage this fall. My “baby” was flushed down the toilet. Just because my embryo’s chromosomal issue happen to show up at 6 weeks doesn’t mean it was any less of an issue than fetuses that can’t survive after birth.

You are acting like trash by denigrating my miscarriage and saying I just “flushed” a baby. It was a clump of cells that had the potential to be a baby. No 10 week embryo is a baby.

Learn some science.

They were, in fact, babies growing inside their mothers.

If it was a baby then it would have been alive when it came out of the PP. But it was not because it was a clump of cells that was not able to grow into a baby. A baby is the result of a fetus growing inside a woman for 9 months. If the PP flushed her miscarriage waste down the toilet then it was obviously not a baby.

And the fanatics posting crazy shit would like an inquest to determine if this was a crime. They’ll keep pushing boundaries to the point where women will have to register their pregnancies and those who travel out of state to terminate will be arrested.

Yes. If they had seated Merrick Garland, and RBG retired during the proper window, this would not have happened.

We should have pushed for Garland and someone should have encouraged RBG to retire. We hold some of the blame. Not to mention all the Dems who voted for Trump.

Things that never happened except in the swamp fever dreams of low information credulous rubes.

Please don’t do this. Take that energy and get out and register people to vote! The only way we can enshrine this as a right is for Congress to pass legislation. That means electing Democrats up and down the ballot!

Protesting will do nothing. registering people to vote or talking to your friends family neighbors of the importance of voting and voting for Democrats is what needs to be done.

Yea that’s a pipe dream at this point. Majority of Dems don’t like the current administration and also the direction we are going. House and senate will flip red, thanks democrats. And then Biden will be voted out for a conservative.

Is the rationale purely and legally to have the states decide, this is out of the purvey of Fed and constitution?

5-4 to strike down Roe v Wade. 6-3 to uphold the 16 week ruling.

So the real change is nationally it moved from 20-24 weeks to 16.
States can make it more time if desired. Carve outs for mom health and baby genetic risks?

No. 5-4 carries the day. States can ban abortion outright and many already have, since they have trigger laws on the books.

Whats the second vote on 16 weeks for then?

There was no second vote. The Chief Justice joined the majority only to the extent that it upheld the Mississippi law. He disagreed with the rationale they used, and the rationale they used was to overturn Roe.

Well, we all can you where you get your “news” from. This is completely false.

This will limit women's right to cross state lines.

Miscarriage will be investigated.

Getting a "risky" procedure while pregnant like having emergency surgery or even doing amniocentisis would subject the mother to criminal charges if something happens.

I would encourage you to read more about late-term abortions who has them and what they actually entail because it doesn't seem like you know the facts

We don't like this administration but we will not let Republicans have this country.

I feel gutted. This feels like when Trump got elected, only it won't be over in 4 years.

Turn this anger into election wins this fall. This is the only way to overturn this right now. Make our anger useful and powerful. This will not stand.
