Thanks to the bike party organizers!

That was an awesome way to see two wheels up and down CT ave. Proof that roads can be used by multiple modalities.

The grumpy people will continue to complain. I saw some video of the event and it looked like a lot of fun.

I hate bicyclists because I can never predict what they’re going to do. Are they following car rules? Are they following pedestrian rules? Are they following presidential motorcade rules? It could be anything! And if I guess wrong, I could smoosh them. Approaching a 4 way stop at the same time as a cyclist is impossible.

It looked like a lot of fun unless you needed to use on of the major arteries in the city to get somewhere

If it makes you feel better -- as a bicyclist, I actually follow the traffic laws, and I find cars terrifying because I don't know what they're going to do and they could smoosh me.

It's quite possible, and I've done it many times, both while driving and while riding a bicycle. Here is how to do it when you're driving:

1. Slow down while approaching the stop sign.
2. Come to a complete stop behind the stop line.
3. Look around.
4. Proceed when it's safe to go.

DP

5. If no one else is around, then it is a yield and you can proceed without stopping.

This. They were all over the road and going pretty slow.

Exactly. And “fun” is one factor that should never be taken into account when making major transportation infrastructure decisions.

But if you’re stopped a stop sign about to turn and a bike is approaching behind you, there’s no way to know whether the bike intends to stop at the stop sign. If you wait to see, everyone is delayed. It’s annoying.

And yet, nothing they did was illegal. If you don't want this all the time, support bike lanes.

It's legal in DC on a bike, or did you not know that?

Cyclists are allowed to ride on the streets. They will ride at whatever speed they can. Some are able to ride faster than others. Drivers have an obligation to drive safely. Bikers have an obligation to bike safely. But drivers do not have the right to be impatient of a cyclists is "riding too slow" for them. That is why bike lanes are needed.

It was a one-off. There is nothing to worry about because it's not even going to happen again occasionally let alone regularly or even more absurdly all the time. Less than 100 people regularly bike on Connecticut.
