Center vs local aap

Does anyone have any recent intel on going to local school at Baileys upper versus center school at Belvedere? I’d love to figure out which would be the better option.

If we continue with Baileys DC would still receive Spanish immersion in math and science, as LIV AAP student, which would be nice. Additionally would still receive the CETA perks as well. I am unaware of the school commhnity at Belvedere.

I don’t like the idea of the cluster model

AAP as we know it seems like its slowly being dismantled and replaced with new and improved equitable solutions... cluster model, HOPE forms, E3 Math.

Get to the center while it still exists.

What is E3 math?

Bailey- it’ll be one teacher teaching all 4 levels. No pull out, no dedicated classes. At Belvedere there’s no Spanish immersion (or free lunches). You will have to figure out which one is better for your child.

School profiles shows Bailey Upper doesn't have AAP LIV students.

School profile shows Belvedere has 223 AAP LIV students in grade 3-6, that's about 2 clasful every grade.

I don't live near there, you need to follow up with Bailey Upper to see what's going on with their LIV

If the program is new then the schools profile won't show a program for the higher grades. LLIV arrived at my kids school when he was in 4th grade. If you looked at the profile there were kids in LIV for 3rd grade but not 4-6 grade. That changes every year. Next year they will show numbers for grades 3-6 because they will have had the program for all of the kids.

If Bailey's is doing cluster model then you have to be okay with not getting any true level IV work/instruction. It might come sporadically, it might never come.

Choose whether you value advanced academics or language immersion more. You won't be able to get both.

Stay for Spanish immersion if you want

Level IV started for the 3rd grade this year. There was a group that opted for Bailey's Upper over Belvedere. I don't know how well the cluster model worked, though.

I will say that in addition to dual immersion, the arts and science curriculum at Upper is impressive. We are opting for Belvedere only because I have concerns about my kid learning advanced math in Spanish.

If you were at the orientation you know the reaction they gave to the question of how did last year go ; we got from the laugh/answer that it was a struggle. But that was expected , we this year can be better with their added experience though.
