Yet another SSFS admin leaving

Anonymous
Lower school head is out after only 1 year but many years at the school overall.

Not getting replaced but going to a “intermediate school” model where 4-5 will be overseen by the Middle school head.

I wonder how many admin and staff have to leave before people realize the problem.

What's the problem?

Not replacing an admin, and then lumping more work onto a current admin is not a good sign. How is the school financially?

Lots of admin turnover in the last few years. I wonder why?

She was not at Sheridan. (The current lower school head at Sidwell used to work at Sheridan. Maybe that is who you are thinking of.)

So is the Head of School the problem? I thought he had a great reputation and was beloved at his previous institution.

A lot of schools have had a lot of turnover since covid. Not sure why you think SSFS is unique in this situation. School is amazing. Not sure why you think there’s an issue.

US will get it's fourth head in four years.
LS will get it's fourth in 5 years.

Not sure why you think this is normal at all.

You sound like a disgruntled parent. If you are so unhappy about the administration, then leave. I think it’s a wonderful community and love the school.

It isn't as wonderful as it used to be.

can you elaborate on this?

3 more lower school teachers leaving.

The culture has had a huge shift under Rodney and not for the better per many teachers. Long term teachers are leaving and not retiring. Multiple Quakers who have been embedded in the community are leaving and don’t think admin truly embraces the Quaker ethos.

Upper school is the most stable division at the moment (first time that can be said since COVID) but it’s a low bar at the moment.

What was the culture shift?
