Pre med schools with 20-40% acceptance rates

Anonymous
My high stats 4.5 gpa kid wants to major in chemistry most likely. It is very easy to identify reaches and dream schools that have single digit acceptance rates. Looking to add some safeties.

His ideal school is a not too huge school in the east coast in an urban setting. His dream school is UPenn. Not sure if he will ED. I have heard from older parents that they wished their kid did not waste their ED on a school that was unlikely to gain acceptance.

20-40% acceptance rate isn’t a safety school

It might be for a kid with great numbers, depending on the school's GPA/SAT range. It won't be for a B+ student.

It’s not a safety for anyone. At all.

Nope. Targets, maybe.

For safeties, look for schools that accept more students than they reject.

For premed you go with whatever gives you the highest gpa. State schools are a popular option.

+1

Your life will be a lot happier and easier over the next year if you and your kid can fall for VCU as a pre-med safety.
