DD’s Professor called people who like Elon Musk Douches

DD who is a first year in college told me her math professor recommended a book to the class, but cautioned that it had also been recommended by Elon Musk. She then half heartedly said that for some people who are fans of Elon, that would be a plus, and then said “If you’re a douche.”

Am I wrong for thinking this is completely off base, especially for a public college?

College is full of many opinions, many will be expressed, some good, some not so good. But it is going to happen. This one not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and should be low on the trigger meter.

Are you serious? People are allowed opinions, especially in college. College is not actually a safe space to coddle your precious snowflake's perception of the world, instilled by you.

Elon Musk is a douche, and there is no real argument there. I have yet to meet an Elon super fan who isn't douchey either.

Not sure why she would say something that takes the attention away from the book. Maybe she used Elon's name to get them to read the book. What's the book?
I've heard bad thing about many celebrities, CEOs. He maybe be extra crazy, but I don't have a measuring stick.
