PPA Coaching for 2012 Girls and 2014 Girls

Anonymous
Does anyone have any insight on the coaching style/ability/success for PPAs Girls 2012 and/or 2014 teams?

2012 is not a super competitive year, both the green and blue team play in the lower levels of EDP, which is appropriate for their level of play. The orange team plays in a different league, maybe Sam Select? That said, the players really like the coaches of both teams, in particular the green team coach. The green team coach may focus a bit more on technical skills and is “tougher” on the players during practice (eg, running laps for goofing off during practice). The blue team coach focused a lot on individual comfort with the ball at the start of fall and worked more toward team tactics later in the season. The teams often practice together (especially in the winter), so there is some exposure to both coaches. The blue team coach is also probably hindered in building team cohesion each year with turnover created by moving players up to the green team. Not sure what will happen with the move to U13 next year, I’d be a little surprised if they could sustain three teams with the expanded roster.

Agreed- 2012s are the weakest of the girls green teams. The 2014s are very good, however. Their current coach will roll off after this year so it’s not clear who will get them next year.

I’m referring to the green teams here.

Concur 2012 is very weak.

2012 girls is a weirdly weak year for PPA. The 2013 girls are amazing (at least the top team dont have perspective on their depth). I think 2012 is just a tough year for soccer development. In DC proper, they all missed their academy/u9 seasons almost completely to field closures

The green team coach is just ok. There was a last minute switch two seasons ago, because no one wanted the team. PPA doesn't support the coaches and leaves them to their own devices. The current coach really struggles with subbing kids.
The prior green team coach, a club owner cared less about the team when he coached them. Never warmed them up, zero strategy, had favorite players, clearly no interest in girls. The 2012 team is weak because of the club owner, lots of girls left. Never recovered. Run from PPA.
