| Is this a good thing to go to or are the clubs just trying to fill spots before each other without holding winter tryouts for next year? |
| For ECNL? The ID sessions are the tryouts. |
| There's been numerous posts about this. |
The practice sessions during the winter are the tryouts. |
| If you are talking about MD United starting tomorrow, they are less "practice all winter" than other ID tryouts. But have your kid ready to bring their A game |
| I've seen online and gotten emails about tryouts coming up; but then some of the clubs want players to come do IDs prior to the actual tryouts. I've not seen it before and it's a lot of driving around to do IDs and then tryouts after anyways so trying to see if anyone has done it before as part of tryouts not reaching out personally to have your player looked at cold call style. |

Yet took the time to read and 🧌 respond. Thanks homeboy! |
That is the usually the way it’s done. DS practiced a few times with a few teams (MLSNext). The coaches always told us whether he would be invited on the team. It always seemed implied that the advertised tryout was a formality. One coach said to sign up for the tryout but that DS didn’t actually have to attend. |
| IDs are the tryouts. By tryout time, empty spots have already been filled by the best kids that did ID sessions |
| How many ID sessions do coaches normally ask you to come to pre tryouts? Are they not totally sold on your player if they ask you to come back a second or third time instead of making it known it's a 'yes' at the end of the first one? |
What if your kid had a bad first ID session because of a stomach bug? |
They won't get asked back or you'll hear from a lower team coach. Within 15 minutes a coach knows if they think your kid is worth their time or not, sick or not. |

We signed for the try out. Went to try out. Coach was so impressed with DS, he gave him an offer on the team on the spot.

| At the time of the ID sessions, these coaches already know what positions they need or want to fill. Try out is just a formality for the clubs so they don't get in trouble for excluding the public. |
