Anybody have experience with this or anecdotes to share?
I am 28 weeks pregnant and I am changing OB practices and the hospital I deliver. The OB practice charges a "Global OB care" of $240 which covers my prenatal visits (AETNA covers this 100%). AETNA says there is no problem in transferring practices, just pay a $30 co-pay at the new OB practice and that's your only responsibility. The original OB practice will receive a pro-rated percentage of the Global OB Care based on the number of visits I saw them, the second practice I will transfer to will get the remaining. When I call my original OB practice, they state that because I will no longer be delivering there, they will re-charge all my prenatal visits that I have already gone to as sick visits, which cost more than the Global OB Care fee, so I will have additional bills to pay as a result of the transfer. Of course I am calling AETNA tomorrow, but are there any stories out there from the battlefield so I can navigate this as best as I can? Thanks! |
