Dresses for a low waist

Anonymous
I finally realized that the reason the kinds of dresses I like (full skirt, cinched waist, kind of a '50's inspired silhouette though not full on retro) never look good on me is that my waist is an entire inch lower than the manufacturers always think it is, so I'm trying to "cinch" my ribcage. Since then I've been doing a lot of blouse + full skirt combos, which is fine but I really do like dresses. What are my options, aside from paying through the nose for something custom? Most stuff you can buy online doesn't have enough fabric for a tailor to move the waistline! I tried eShakti once and was not impressed with the quality.

Buy tall sizes.

Very long torso here. "Fit and flare" styles have always worked best.

Tall dresses have never worked for me; all the ones I've tried are "tall" in length vs torso.

The Biden talk ones have a longer torso.
I have this problem and most dresses make me look pregnant. It seems like sometime in the past decade, designers decided to bring waists up a couple of inches.

Is this supposed to be Boden tall?

If the tie belt has the thin strings (vs a belt loop) sewn into the seam of the dress, cut them off. This way you can place the belt at your natural waist.
