| What fields does Potomac use for their day-to-day practices? Is it Soccerplex, or somewhere closer in? |
| They’ve been known to practice at the single astroturf field behind Lakelands Middle school off 28 in Gaithersburg |
| Depends on the age and level. It can really be anywhere in MoCo though we found most to be in the Potomac area or soccerplex. |

OP here: Thanks.
If you were living in DC, do you think Potomac's practice schedule would make sense (vs. Bethesda for example). The thought of a trip up 270 3x times a week in rush house is a bit daunting. |
| We decided against Potomac because the commute was just too much. We live in NW DC and most of the practices for the team we would have been on were in Gaithersburg or Germantown. Not ideal on any day, but I couldn’t stomach doing the 270 commute 3x/week. |
If you’re in DC, look at DCFC or PPA. There’s also Achilles. Depending on age group and team, Bethesda fields will also be far. Last year my son checked out MLS Next and they were at Paint Branch HS one of the days. I know one of the teams this year is at Wheaton HS at least some of the time. At a younger age the field was in Gaithersburg off Clopper Rd. Some lucky teams get Richard Montgomery or Wootton but those are still up 270 for you. When my son was with Potomac at the younger ages the fields were closer to DC. They practiced at Holy Child and Bullis. I don’t know if those are used anymore. |
| Older ages of Potomac (I have two that play for them) practice a lot at the Soccerplex. |
I have nothing against Potomac but TBH there is zero reason to travel that far for them. |
I have to agree with this, unless your kid is on their top teams, there are other clubs more convenient to someone living in NW DC |
| I probably wouldn’t tell a rando on the internet where my kid practices. It’s kept quiet for a reason. We have SS there. |
| MSI has better, closer in fields, and I hear they are growing their travel program (many more this year than last). Might be worth a look |
| It really depends on age group and level. Clubs like DCFC or MSI soccer are fine for rec or travel lite but Potomac is ECNL now. |
| I was at an ID session and the dude said they mostly practice at soccerplex in germantown.... like a pp said, that's a bit far for the quality or level that they say they are offering...even if you live in potomac proper. |
| If you want a really competitive program, deal with 270 and go with Bethesda. If you just want travel, PPA, DCSC, and DCYFC are much more convenient for NW DC. Depends on age and how serious and competitive a program you want. We live in NW DC too and deal with the BSC commute because we wanted higher level. It's not that bad and carpools are possible because there are a reasonable number of kids from DC. |
