| What is the best way to work on soccer skills over the summer for 11 year old girl? (Not part of travel team, but played soccer for last 4 years). Looking to specifically improve skills, not just join a general summer camp. Are there any skills clinics available during the summer in the DMV area (closer to DC/Bethesda)? Is 1:1 or small group coaching an option? Any leads? |

Perhaps In10sity has something over the summer (its a futsal program).
I've heard St. James is partnering with Chelsea and offering some training sessions. |
| NextStar Soccer has group trainings in Bethesda and at other MoCo sites. My child has enjoyed them though some of the sessions have tons of kids. |
| Play pick-up have fun during the summer they are only 11 |
...and work on skills |
I'm not sure what you are looking for...you want you daughter to improve her skills but "not just join a general summer camp". So are you looking for soccer specific camps? If so, I'm sure Bethesda soccer club offers soccer clinics. Look at all the bigger clubs and I'm sure they offer summer clinics. If you want to do 1 on 1, maybe ask a coach she likes if she/he would be willing to work with her. And better yet, see if one or two or three of her soccer friends at her same level are interested and have small group training. kids tend to want to be with a few friends...and the group can split the fee, so cheaper for you. |
| HP Elite clinics are very good |
| I would find some consistency somewhere. Kids can practice a specific soccer skill for 3-4 weeks, like a step-over feint cut combo or juggling with feet. But It's amazing how they can loose that skill after 4 weeks of not practicing it or they have a growth spurt and they are suddenly a bit clumsy on the ball. (I've observed both those things with my own kid.) So, if you want your kid to have new skills by fall time, find a consistent training group all summer. |
| If you Google your local area you'll be able to find some smaller supplemental programs. Do a little research/go for a trial session and you'll find someone appropriate. |
| Without knowing where you are, hard to say. NOVA kids benefit from HP elite but often coaches at your club’s travel side do individual training too. If her end goal is travel then that might be a good angle to consider. Cal the travel director and see what they suggest near you. |
HP Elite is great but they require you be on a travel team. Take a look at FuturElitz or St. James. |
