Buying in Darnestown-Lakelands Park-Northwest cluster

Anonymous
We are looking for homes in this area and we have a child who will be starting K this fall. When I started reading this form I saw the thread about boundary changes for high school. Is this something to be factored into the home buying decision? Where can I learn more about this? Thanks for any advice!

You can learn about it by reading the thread about the boundary changes. When the boundary analysis and decision happens, you can bet this forum will be on fire with updates and opinions.

Other than that, ready MCPS CIP for updates on capital projects.

Yes. You are buying a residence in Montgomery County. You are not buying a specific MCPS school.

FWIW The area you're looking at only stands to gain from redistricting in my opinion.

You need to improve your reading comprehension: OP said they’re looking to buy in a cluster, not buy a cluster. Honestly.

What we know now is they are planning to leave elementary school boundaries as is, but may change MS or HS boundaries. So, you would be staying at Darnestown ES, but Darnestown could potentially be reassigned to feed to an adjacent MS and/or HS. We'll know the results in March 2026.
