Will my 9th grader miss tests or anything important that last half week of school in June?

The last 4 days of school (except for the very last day) are final exams. If your child is not going to be there for a class with a final (look in the syllabi for the courses) they will need to arrange a 2 hour block to take the final early.

My math students all have finals that last week, but I know in English they have final projects that could theoretically be presented in the first half of the allotted time fram vs. the last week.

The only correct answer is none of us know. There is no consistency between schools or even within schools. Your kid could have a final or could have none. You might be in a HS that doesn’t have any finals that week, had finals earlier or has a strict final exam schedule. Have your kid ask each teacher but assume there is a final, project or presentation that week. This is high school.

I was irritated that my middle schooler dragged himself to school last year for the last week and half the school seemed to be gone and literally nothing academic happened.

This just adds to the absentee issue for which we now have report cards on this ¥it’s like no one is even trying anymore. Teachers don’t teach anything at certain times due to high absenteeism, parents don’t send kids at certain times because teachers aren’t doing anything academic. Round and round we go.

+1. Also my kids enjoy signing yearbooks, helping teachers organize, etc….

I have a question re: late final exam windows. If a school gives final exams the last few days of school, how does said school implement the retake policy? Or are final exams not eligible for the retake policy?
