| Have you received any information about the new SOL for reading? It's an integrated reading and writing test. So far I have heard nothing and was wondering if that was the way it was at the other schools. I'm not sure if this is a pilot and the writing grade won't count or if the grade will count. |
| There's a new SOL for 5th graders? No, I haven't heard about it. |
| I hadn't heard this. How did you find this out? What ES? |
|
This is statewide. It's 5th grade only, they are integrating writing into the test. I don't know what information if any of the state has even rolled out. Many people don't know about this. This would be all 5th graders in the state.
|
| No one else knows what you are talking about. Please explain your source of the information. |
| How exactly are they incorporating writing into a computer adaptive test? |
| What does "count" mean in this context? I thought SOLs didn't matter for individual students. |
| I am a 5th grade parent and I don’t care. |
| School test coordinators were just given the first training about it this past week. I’ll ask ours and report back. |

Could not find anything from FCPS but since SOLs are statewide it's fine from another county. SOLs are not by county but by state.

| I have a 5th grader and haven't heard anything about this. But I'm all for incorporating writing into SOLS! Maybe they'll teach it better this way. |
Thank you very much! |
| Ugh 5th grade parent here. I haven't heard anything about this new version. My child will struggle even worse. Child is Dyslexic but managed to pass reading last year, I doubt they be able to pass the writing piece. This is unfair to spring this so late. I know my child doesn't have to pass but they will feel bad if they don't pass.. |
This isn’t adaptive. The students will respond to a writing prompt. |
Not the OP, but it’s in the VDOE website, easy enough to Google |
