Now that Betsy Fisher, Wear It Well, and Forecast are no more, where should I shop? TIA |
I like the Eileen Fisher in Friendship Heights for basics (ponte or linen pants, button down shirts, basic silk blouses). I buy silk scarves from Hermes and Burberry. |
Ann Mashburn |
Second this. I'm 57. |
Bananna Republc
J Crew Neimans Saks Hell no to Chicos, Talbots, Ann Taylor J Jill all frumpy |
Not OP, but I'm 53 and not only am I not ready to buy clothing at any of these places (well, I've had a few work suits from Ann Taylor), I hope I never will be. Ugh. I feel like JJill should have a tagline: JJill -- For women who have given up! |
I'm almost 50 and shop at Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Saks, etc. Why would we need different stores? |
J McLaughlin, Bloomingdales, MM LaFleur |
How many silk scarves do you need? Such a weird thing to mention. |
Ann Mashburn nothing special |
+1 I don't understand the question. While I won't be wearing most things at Forever 21, for instance, clothes everywhere else are for most people. |
There is a poster who always mentions her "ponte pants and silk scarves" as if that's the height of good taste. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore a silk scarf, if ever. |
Oh gosh, I'm picturing the "ponte pants and silk scarves" and it is not good, lol. |
Yes! And for years has been talking about her crisp button ups. I was about to respond and say I wonder if it is the same person and then I reread the post above and lo and behold she mentions the button ups. Who wears “crisp” button ups anymore? They were a thing when I went to law school 20 years ago. Not so much now. Maybe the Hermes scarves pull it all together |
Yes, but you have to really weed through Anthro to find stuff that would look good on older women. Partly because Anthro has so many offerings now and b/c it seems they're going after a younger clientele also (20s) with lots of backless / crop things. I find lots of age appropriate stuff there but I do visit the app quite frequently. I assume OP is asking about a store that consistently has age appropriate things that are easy to find, rather than weeding. Nordstrom is similarly huge and while I do love Saks, it's pricey and big, and it would help to know what brands at Saks to target. |
