Does anyone else have a child at Fusion Academy? I don’t want to say which campus we are at. I’m not trying to out myself. But I am a little surprised by what’s going on with my student there. They are telling me that my child is lacking motivation and is not wanting to do their homework. All homework is done at school there. However, my child wouldn’t be at Fusion if there weren’t challenges. That’s why we chose Fusion. Has anyone had a similar experience there? I’m about to just homeschool. I’m at the end of my rope |
Search the forum for Fusion, it seems most people are not happy with their approach. |

I think of it as an expensive, short term, bandaid to a horrendous public school for us. We are relatively new and I am surprised by some of it, especially considering the cost. That being said, since having a child with LDs, I have become a strong supporter of homeschooling too. |
Were you expecting that they would just pass your kid along without your child doing the work? I'm confused about what you were expecting and what is wrong with them letting you know your kid isn't doing the work. |
We came there after a public school experience that involved extreme bullying. I thought they would take things slower |
What are you surprised by? I’m honestly surprised by how much downtime the kids have and how much they let them sit on screens |
Have you talked to them about strategies to motivate and engage your child? If they aren't implementing strategies I would be annoyed but telling you that it's still a work in progress seems like good communication. |
Look at GW Community School. Small, kind and nurturing. It did wonders for my son. I would also suggest adding some CBT for a change to the mindset on motivation and homework refusal.

Not OP. Have you seen their website? They go on and on about the support they provide to students with disabilities, yet seem to be quickly resorting to the old "your kid just isn't motivated" trope. For the money people pay, and the way they market themselves, it is reasonable to expect that the school have some idea of how to handle the homework difficulty. |
Op here, thank you for that last response. That’s where I’m coming from and I’m surprised by their lack of support here |
I’ve posted before but someone recommended an online school with a tutor to support over fusion when we looked into enrolling. Years later we are doing a combination of this, homeschool classes and community college classes. It took a while to find the right fit but was much less expensive than Fusion to finish HS. |
What is the online school that you are using? |
How old is your kid?

I’m a teacher and I have seen Fusion advertising for teachers on Indeed. The pay is low $25-30 per hour and the jobs are mostly advertised as part time so no benefits.
No way are they able to hire people who know the content and are experienced in providing a variety of supports. |
