I have homemade biscuits in the freezer from when I made the dough in November. I cut them out and froze them unbaked. With they still be good and rise normally, etc. if I bake them next week when my MIL is visiting? Do baked good experience freezer burn, or does the leavening become less effective after several months?
Sorry for the dumb questions. I don’t really bake much and I am very bad at using the freezer too! |

You should be fine. I haven't specifically frozen biscuits, but freeze cookie dough (for instance), and there is no difference. I even pulled one out from 2022 (!!!) and baked it, and it was fine.
As for freezer burn, that depends on how you stored it in the freezer. I double bag mine in freezer bags, and squeeze out as much of the air as possible. |
I… just chucked them in a freezer Ziplock. If they do have freezer burn, would there be tell tale signs like ice crystals? If no ice crystals, they are good? |
| Take one out and bake it |
| I think they should be fine but agree that the test is to take 1 out, thaw over night in the fridge, and bake it in the morning. See how you like it. |
| Might as well bake them all—they will either be fine or not. Baking just one doesn’t take any more time than baking them all! |
| Just bake them from frozen. I do this all of the time and they’re fine. They’ll need a few extra minutes in the oven. |

Omg. I’m tired and read this as “homicide biscuits” and I clicked in wondering what crazy trend this was!
I need sleep. |
Could be a good band name

| I'm confused - did you just freeze the dough in a ring shape (not let it rise?) or are they risen? |
Biscuits use leavening, and don’t need to rise like a yeast dough does. |
