Any re-evaluation for MS magnet pool?

Anonymous
My kid was placed in lottery pools for the MS magnets (for us, Eastern and TPMS). He didn’t win the lottery but remains in the pool.

Will the report card that came home today impact that? Do they go back and re-evaluate pool decisions if he were to get a spot?

It's a lottery and he is already in the pool what difference would his grades make now?

That’s my question - if he got a spot in August, will they pull his recent report cards? Or once he is in the pool, that’s the end of the evaluation?

Once you are in the pool, you remain in the pool and are a part of the lottery drawings moving forward.

So, yes, OP. Your son can slack off and save his spot. In fact, if he doesn’t want a competitive high school placement, he doesn’t even have to pass his MS classes to stay in magnet.

Perfect! That’s absolutely his plan - glad it will work. 🤪

So wait--does a kid who was put in the magnet pool in 5th grade and didn't get drawn for 6th still have an (admittedly small) chance to get a spot for 7th grade? Will they re-draw from the pool if spots open up because people move, go back to the home school, etc. ?
