Do you know those Kabob restaurants? What is the name of the type of rice they serve?

The one that is kind of yellowish and delicious?

I think it has fennel in it, but I am not sure.

I want to try to make it, but need the name so I can google a recipe.

I’d call it cumin rice. I’m guessing it’s cumin seed you’re remembering, not fennel seed. The yellow could be saffron or turmeric.

Some use saffron and some use turmeric. It depends on the region/recipe. Do you mean the kind that is all yellow, or like at MobyDick where there is a mix of white and yellow?

We make this recipe pretty often: https://www.seriouseats.com/serious-eats-halal-cart-style-chicken-and-rice-white-sauce-recipe

which uses chicken broth, tumeric, and cumin for the rice.

You can make it without butter and it's perfectly fine to eat carbs.

I think there might be clove in it too.

Ha! I recently started adding turmeric and pepper and garlic powder to my rice along with olive oil. It LOOKS like the restaurant yellow rice but doesn’t have the taste. Wonder what other spices to add. I do have ground clove but I’m worried it would be too strong.
