Graduated. What now?

Anonymous
I'll be 9 weeks this coming Wednesday. Everything looked fine this week and we graduated from the clinic at 8 weeks. Baby measuring to the day and a heartbeat of 165.

Our on appt isn't until 12 weeks. And I'm just worried. What is something happens. Who do I call? The fertility center? We are still on meds for two more weeks. Er?

We are seeing an ob that is part of the big hospital/university practice our fertility clinic is at too. Buy could I go see a local neighborhood obgyn just for one appt around 10 weeks? Or will insurance not cover my first ob appt w our actual Dr?

I'm just feeling a little lost. And cramping like crazy so worried

If it makes you feel any better, I fired my RE when he casually threw out that he saw a C-section isthmocele during the embryo transfer and never came back! Bought my 12 weeks of meds and walked out the door.

There is nothing they can do to stop a 10 wk miscarriage.

Oh no I'm sorry he was such a a jerk..I actually really love my RE. And was sad to say goodbye. Feeling that loss of security.

I know they can't stop it I was more thinking of I needed a d&c would the fertility clinic do it or would I wait for this new ob in 4 weeks - I would obviously prefer the fertility center to do it and prep me for the next transfer

Our RE was a private practice and we were full pay OOP. I'm sure they would have seen us for an extra appt if needed. Don't know about a university health system like that.

I am surprised you don't have a 10 week appt at your OB. That's when they did my NIPT both times and also it's just a little comforting to go in and get familiar with the practice. Don't let them scrimp and be stingy with appts. My insurance covered 100% of these appts - also had 12w ultrasound etc.

We about paying for extra appts they told us the re's that don't hold two insurance policies can't see pregnant people past 9 weeks

12 weeks is the earliest we can get in. It's a new to us practice and we called the day of our + beta this is the earliest they can see us. We are on the wait-list and hope something pops up before.

I really want to call a smaller local practice and see if they will see us. Not even tell them we are IVF and just have them do a ultrasound

I have a feeling you are not going to like this practice if they are so stingy with appointments. I would go ahead and try to be seen at the other practice and choose between them. I have no idea what "We can't see you before 12 weeks" means.

IMO, having one pre-covid PG and two covid PGs alot of clinics got very very lazy spacing appointments more than they should be and replacing them with phone appointments. Also as a general rule, they are nicer earlier in the PG when you are more able to fire them and get a new practice, so this is the nicest they will be.

Cramping is very concerning OP. As someone that's lost tons of pregnancies there isn't anything to do except go to the ER to confirm you've lost the pregnancy and get scheduled for a D&C or prepare for the passing. Then you go back to the RE. Rinse wash repeat.

You could always go to the ER if you’re desperate, and tell them you’re cramping. But some ERs don’t have vaginal u/s capabilities, which is what you really want!

Good luck, OP.

Thanks all. I think I'm going to call a practice in our neighborhood on Monday and schedule an appt before our 12 week visit.

Oh I'm definitely not going to like it and it will be a change from being seen almost weekly and at the time we want -7am at the fertility clinic to we can only get you in at this time.

Our RE wasn't worried about the cramping, said it's normal and also could be from the pio. I haven't had any bleeding and heartbeat was strong. So hoping for the best but would love to be seen at 10 weeks

Are you planning to get NIPT and the nuchal screen or do you have a PGS-tested embryo? I’d try to get in earlier.

C-section scar pouch in uterus.

I am also unsure why the PP fired the RE unless she never had a C-section.

They literally can't see me any earlier. It's the point of the frustration at this whole thing. But it's the faculty practice for the best NICU in th city and we don't have to pay oop for anything

Yes she's an euploid embryo and we plan on doing nipt which they can do at 12 weeks and nuchal 11-14 weeks

I am also unsure why the PP fired the RE unless she never had a C-section.

I had a C-section. The RE did a saline sonohistogram in preparation for a FET and said my uterus was beautiful, had 10mm residual myometrium, said I could TOLAC, during the FET said he saw a C-section isthmocele and I needed a repeat C. I WTFed, he looked at my notes, said it was good, then didn't do anything to help me. Never released my records. By the end of the pregnancy the scar was threatening to spontaneously rupture. Worst experience of my life.

I came on this forum right after the FET and a couple gems said I was a princess for not being ok with the above situation.
