Hi,
My son a sophomore in HS got an email from college board that he is selected to be a Peer tutor for them based on his PSAT score. They said that they are partnering with schoolhouse.world platform started by Sal Khan to research the impact of a free online SAT tutoring program. Does anyone know if this is legit. Thanks |
| It's legit. My kid gave it a shot, we figured it had a few benefits, she needed volunteer hours anyway, she put SAT tutoring on her college application, and we hoped that teaching SAT prep would help her increase her score for her final attempt. |
| Thank you so much. Did it help her to improve her SAT knowledge? |
| My child got this too and it does seem to be a real thing. (I assumed it as a scam at first too.) He wasn’t interested at all so that’s all I know. |
| Thanks, College Board, for offering my kid the "opportunity" to work for free to solidify your role as the dominant standardizing testing service. (Maybe you could cover some of those fees we paid you already?) |
Nailed it. College Board sucks. So glad so many kids are going test optional. |
| My DD also got this based on psat score. She’s a junior |
| DS got the same invite but he was already tutoring math in his high school so he passed. |
| My child got it, too. Curious what the scores were for psat 10 since the range for a high percentile seemed to be pretty broad. Mine got a 1390. |
| Does this tutoring help? |
She had a 760 math before tutoring math and she wasn't able to beat that score. (She did get her reading score up.) |
| My junior DD also got it for her PSAT. She’s going to do it. |
| Our senior has been a peer tutor with schoolhouse.world for two years, first as a participant, then as a peer-tutor. She leads SAT Math bootcamps and some Physics sessions and has really enjoyed it. Additionally, this program provides a transcript that is useful to add onto college applications (some specifically mention it directly). |

They have partnership with a few colleges:
