Tell me about your high speed blender. What do you use it for? Do you like it? Does it replace a regular blender or would I still need both? How does it compare to a food processor?
|
| I use a Vitamix for anything that needs blending. A food processor has different functions. |
| I never regret buying my vitamix. It’s just a really solid blender with zero issues. I use my food processor for different things. It’s just a blender but a very good blender. |
I still use my stick blender too though. |
| I feel like you definitively need all 3- vitamix type high speed blender for all things you use a blender for, a food processor, and an immersion/stick blender. All have different uses/purposes. |
| We have a Vitamix because DH Christmas shops by going to Costco a couple days before Christmas and buying whatever they’ve got deals on. We honestly don’t use it very much. My teens go through phases where the make more smoothies or milkshakes but a lot of the time we just use the nutribullet because it’s more convenient. |

Thanks for the replies. Is Vitamix the best brand? Are you primarily making smoothies or doing something else with it?
I'd like to make homemade almond or other non dairy milks, but I am reluctant to buy the single use appliance like the Almond Cow. |
You're wise to avoid single-use kitchen gadgets. I've had my vitamix for almost a decade now, and it's still a tank. We've used it for soymilk/asst. nutmilks, soups, smoothies, dough, grinding oats/nuts to make flour/meal, blending old soap bits and crayons for crafts... Beast of a thing, and worth every penny. But PP who said you should have a food processor and immersion (stick) blender too is right on. All three make for a really functional kitchen. |

I have a vitamix (gift), and while I love it, I am still yearning for a food processor.
Vitamix and blender are the same, dont need both. Vitamix can also heat things, so I do sometimes make "vitamix soup", which is just roasted veggies poured into the vitamix and blended for a little while. I do also make smoothies (lots of protein shakes so far in Jan!) and it works great with frozen fruit, very sturdy unlike some blenders. Food processor slices things though. I've tried to "dice" in the vitamix and its lackluster at best. Ive never made almond/oat milk, but I do know the vitamix can do it. |

I've had my Vitamin for 11 years. It's great. No need for another blender; this is a one and done type thing. I have 2 containers - one for wet (e.g., smoothies, milks, etc.) and one for dry (e.g., making oat flour or spice mixes).
My food processor broke and I miss it. I used it for all kinds of things like nut butters, hummus, and doughs. |
