South Jersey?

Anonymous
Anyone have experience with the South Jersey suburbs? My husband is dying to move back to the area, even though the town he grew up in is a total dump (West Deptford). It looks like the Main Line is nice, but that can be 50 mins + from his parents, and the goal is to move closer to them.

Medford is really nice.

Haddonfield is a cute little borough

Haddonfield is cute. When I lived in Cherry Hill, I would take drives through Haddonfield at night to see the homes with the lighted candles in the windows.

I worked in Moorestown, which is another option, but probably not cheap these days.

I have an aunt and uncle in Haddonfield. I like it there!

I felt my friends who lived on the Jersey side lived in Haddonfield or Cherry Hill.

I personally prefer the PA side suburbs like Swarthmore, Gladwyne, etc.

Haddonfield is cute, but also take a look at the nearby Haddon Heights. It's a more down-to-earth vert safe town with a great community feel.

Haddonfield is cute but very Waspy. Look to Voorhees, Cherry Hill or Moorestown for a little more diversity if that's important to you.

It’s very rural and mostly white. Basically the opposite of NoVa!

Taxes are very high on the NJ side, which is why the RE is cheaper. Haddonfield is a nice town with good schools. You do have easier direct commutes into Philadelphia and if you work in Philadelphia the city's wage tax can be deducted from your NJ taxes. But not enough to make up for the still much higher taxes.

Smart people stay on the Pennsylvania side.

+1. I would also consider Haddon Township and Barrington.
