Will someone who has experience using DC Tag please explain how much you actually paid? I thought you only got $10,000 off the out-of-state tuition. Others say it is actually more than that? please clarify |
DCTAG pays 10,000 per year, up to 5 years for a participating state school. In some cases, the 10,000 payment will almost bring actual cost down to "in state tuition", but it does not actually mean you only pay in state tuition. DS received his award letter from DCTAG, which was forwarded to the financial office at his school. The school bills DC 5,000 per semester. We pay the balance, minus whatever financial aid/scholarship money he is also receiving. Hope this helps. |
Oh, that's more favorable than I thought. I thought you just had $10,000 subtracted from the out-of-state cost. So, if UVA charges say $10k for in-state and $33k for out of state. I thought a DC Tag person would pay:
$33k minus $10k equals $23K. But, you're saying they would pay $13k? |
Sorry if I wasn't more clear. DCTAG pays 10,000, which you subtract from the out of state cost. |
So then, a DC tag person would pay about $23k for out-of-state UVA? |
Correct. |
Does the $10000 apply to tuition only? Not room and board for example? |
