Hello-
We are looking for prek3 options for next year and would love to hear about first hand experiences with Communikids Glover Park. We are inbounds for Oyster, which doesn’t have prek3 and our chances of getting into a Spanish immersion DCPS or charter prek3 seem nonexistent! We would anticipate staying at Communikids until K. We speak a tiny bit of Spanish with extended family, but I would say my daughter’s Spanish is pretty nonexistent currently. We would be coming from an English only daycare program that is very close to home. While we would love to stay there my dreams of teaching her Spanish have so far not happened so I’m thinking the Spanish immersion would be great. We did a tour and the outside space seems pretty small and because we were in a group I didn’t really get a good sense for the teachers in the classrooms, etc. |
We love it. SO speaks spanish (close to fluency but not quite there). Our LO didn't speak any Spanish when enrolling, but has picked it up fine. Teachers there have been great. Adjusting to the DCPS schedule is rough (a lot of days off and half days and what not), but other than that we couldn't be happier. The enclosed outdoor space is small, but they walk to Guy Mason park sometimes (as well as do other outings to other walkable locations). |
I'd recommend. We are in the Spanish program and love the teachers. We've heard the mandarin teachers are good this year also.
The only thing to beware of is do not rely on the school lunch. They are like $1 (not even) TV dinners, reheated in those cheap black plastic container containing BPA, and cost $6-7 each. Ex: 2 previously frozen Ego waffles + 2 sausage patties. |
