Next year we will be ready to transition from club swim with lots of meets and an unhappy coach to more of a maintenance schedule to allow kids rest and flexibility to do other activities but be in shape for summer and HS swim. So maybe practices 2-3 times per week for 13 and 15 year old.
Machine seems too pricey for that ask. Other ideas? Reston, Herndon, Oakton, Chantilly area. |
are you with machine now? did you look at their mechanics and maintenance program? it seems like exactly what you are looking for.
York swim has a similar program and practices at Oak Marr and Reston. If you are trying to not be part of a club swim team- you could try something like Norman swimming, but honestly at ages 13 and 15 I think you would be better off just planning to go to the rec center and let them swim for an hour 1-2 x a week. |
I was going to recommend York as well. Good club, great philosophy. |
Potomac Marlins at Cub Run have programs for 2-3x a week for teenagers. |
York, Tuesday/ Thursday at Yorktown or the 3x a week evening program at Oakmarr. Mostly HS swimmers who like swim, and don’t want to be competitive. |
Herndon Aquatic Club has two "low maintenance" programs for the middle school/high school age groups at Herndon Community Center.
Age Group Gold 2 is for 11-14 and meets 4x week after school (although they are not strict about attending every session). Senior Bronze is for 14-18 and meets 2x week at night. HAC has had coaching issues for a number of years with a horrible head coach, but now has a new head coach who is light years better. |
Look into Centreville Swim Club. Very nice coaches and flexible in terms of number of practices per week. |
