What are you getting your young adult children for the holidays?

Both in college, both in twenties - boy and girl. We've had a lot going on this fall - bad bouts of mental and physical health - and I'm spent thinking of ideas. Both are outdoorsy - camp, hike, ski. Both like clothes and jewelry. Both read - he nonfiction, she "Daisy Jones and the Six" genre. Welcome any ideas - even if cash would like to pair with a small item.

Welcome any and all suggestions. Really appreciate it.

An advent calendar of tea, pj pants (she gets a new pair each year) and her two favorite candies from Trader Joe's. She's said no thank you to so many things. This might be the first year she doesn't get eight gifts.

Sorry this fall has been difficult.

For him - Patagonia Snap T, Nike dunks, flannel shirt jacket lined with fleece or sherpa, henley shirts.

For her - Ugg Tazz slippers if you can find them, Alo yoga accolade sweatpants and hoody or sweatshirt, Jenny bird bubble initial necklace, any sweater from Reformation, the book Adelaide (so good) or any book by Jodi Piccoult.

Got mine new ski clothes - jacket, pants, mid layer, socks. Replaces gear that has been worn from age 14.
And a TUMI bag for internship.

To me it depends on how independent they are financially. If they’re on a tight budget, cash is the best gift. Pair with chocolates or something.

Do they have a nice sleeping bag and camp mattress yet? My husband and I finally bought this set and it's wonderful. https://www.sylvansport.com/gear-overview/#sleeping-bags-pads-mattresses

A mini solo stove with smores sticks

I'd get them a few fun books. Even though your son reads mostly non-fiction, you should give him Project Hail Mary. My 18-year-old (and my husband) LOVED reading this book. For your daughter, what about High Fidelity or Lessons in Chemistry or The Secret Life of Sunflowers?

My kids keep an amazon wishlist throughout the year; I try to get them something large and practical-ish (new coat, ipad, etc) and then fun things they might not spend their own money on

At this age, I’d ask what they want. Their list could be vague if you still want to shop and be creative with your gifts.

For instance, Nike dunks. I would want to get a color that THEY think they can wear with everything. Certain color combos are popular, and versatile.that may be what a kid wants or they may only want the style/color that is less common. Or may want the color that’s just “dropping” or hasn’t even come out yet..

One is getting cash and the other is getting something for their computer.

Thanks for all the suggestions - very, very helpful. Now I gotta look up what a Nike Dunk is.
