Would you want a new coffee place in AUPark/Tenley/friendship heights area?

Do you think a coffee place is missing in the area? Where would you locate it?
And would you want a place to sit down or just grab coffee to go?

Yes, Friendship Heights could use one after Peet's and LPQ closed. Possibly in the new food hall that's supposed to open soon?

I wouldn’t open anything in FHghts right now. With all the construction, it’s a cluster.

I can’t think of a commercial block in those areas that gets enough foot traffic but doesn’t already have a coffee shop. I guess Tenley itself since the Sbux closed.

The Confetti ice cream place just closed so the space may be available but it’s a bit out of the way.

BTW, does anyone know what’s up with that old market on Western between FHghts and Westmoreland Circle?

1 Peets and 2 Starbucks closed in since 2020 between Tenleytown and FH.

Yes. I’d love something that’s a combination of the long ago Marvelous Market and a place good for meeting up with friends for tea, coffee, snacks and conversation. The closer it is to Friendship Heights, the more likely it will be that I’d be a frequent customer.

They tried to open up again after the pandemic and I think they didn’t make it.

Yes! The coffee shop at politics and prose comes the closest but I would love a stand alone coffee shop.

All three, I guess? If I were in Friendship Heights, I wouldn't go for coffee in Tenleytown, and vice versa.

Yes, I'd love a place I could sit down and work and support somewhere that's not Starbucks. I like the idea of going shopping and then getting coffee and working, so either Tenley or Friendship would work for me.

That’s exactly what Upper Caucasia needs. Another coffee shop.

If Starbucks didn’t make it, that’s the answer.

All, don't forget about Coffee Nature. Nice little place.

I love Coffee Nature! It would be great to have a similar place around. Starbucks can’t compare to a good neighborhood coffee place.

Besides Coffee Nature there is a Compass and Starbucks on Mass Ave (Spring Valley, but really just across the street from AU Park). And there is the new Tatte by Wegman’s.

I hope the Mazza redevelopment gets a coffee shop and a book shop. Something like P & P would be great.
