| Is so awful. The new parking situation is painful. The bathrooms, recently remodeled in the food hall, have multiple toilets out of service and no paper towels. There is only one hand dryer and the stores keep closing. So annoying. |
| Yeah, but it’s always filled with people! It’s not even a shopping mall. It’s a food and entertainment destination now. So bizarre. |
It could have been a successful Rose & Pike or District Mosaic type redevelopment with trendy stores and cafes, but they went the cheap route and just turned half of the mall inside out. The food hall is decent though, but could’ve been even much better with a better design. |
| They are issuing parking tickets today. At 1030 am |
Arlington desperately trying turn success into failure. |
Why would it be free? It’s not a public lot. |
they changed the parking system to one that's hard to use, doesn't issue an actual ticket and there are minimal signs that you need to pay in advance. Previously, you'd pay on your way or at a kiosk. Also, it could be a public lot. I think it' holds 400 cars a level and it's 8 levels. It'snever full. |
Charging for parking and issuing tickets people trying to shop on the biggest shopping day of the year is going to leave a very negative impression. Ballston is already suffering, this is just going to convince a few hundred people not to come back and go to Tysons instead. |
Who the hell wants it to still be a shopping mall? Do you really miss having not one, but two Macy’s? I don’t know anyone besides my mom who still shops in person at department stores. If people want to mall walk and shop in stores they go to Tysons. I live in Arlington not too far from Ballston and never went there until it started turning into a food/entertainment destination. There’s now fun stuff to do with kids like 5 Wits and Immersive Gaming. You have to actually go in person to do those so it makes sense vs. stores that you can shop at online. The garage is still the same as always and has remained just $1 for over a decade now, so I don’t know why OP complaining about that. It’s also easy to metro there. |
| There are a number of stores and things to do that I enjoy at Ballston Quarter. I also like all the restaurants. Go to the READ bookstore. I like it! The parking garage is weird, though, and the movie theater always seems sad. But I like a lot of it. |
Are the parking garages normally free in Tysons? They aren’t at Ballston. And it’s not a public lot so… |
Same. We usually eat, see a movie, or do some kind of game thing there now. The complaints about paying for parking are so weird. Maybe people who’ve never been there before? You have to pay to park at Crystal City mall too FYI. It’s common in dense area with limited parking. |
People actually shop at Tyson’s. Ballston is a $hit show with no decent stores. |
I go there to watch a movie or eat. I don’t shop at any mall. |
They changed it to a system where you have to pay in advance in an app. Most people were used to going in, getting a ticket, and paying a dollar on the way out. Many people thought that with the gates up it means it was going free for the day. The rework of the parking lot was terrible. |
